*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*WHEN LOVE IS MORE THAN EMOTION.*

*Scripture Treasure.*

1 John 4:7-13

*Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.*

*He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.*

*In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.*

*Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.*

*Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.*

*No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.*

*Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.*

*And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Love is an emotion but do not emotionalize it.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Love is a strong driver of human connection.

In all the different types of love, God's love (agape) stands out as the purest, the best and most recommended to all God's creation.

1 John 4:8 says *He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.*

Other types of love are, romantic

(love that drives individuals toward a partner or an intense and often of a romantic attraction and expression), familial (love between families), platonic: (close friendship, non-romantic, non-sexual, e.g David and Jonathan).

Over all different types of love, Agape love is dominant, distinguished and distinctive.

Love itself is emotional. It comes with feelings.

Songs of Solomon says *"......love is as strong as death....."* which highlights the emotional longing of love.

Songs of Solomon 2:5 says *"....l am sick of love"* (2:5).

As emotional as love can be we must be careful of how we often emotionalize it.

We often sentimentalise love.

We often determine how people love us through the expectations we have of them.

We judge love by how people treat us according to our expectations of them attimes not by how we treat them.

We must not emotionalize love but practice love as a heart.

How many that would type 'amen' to a posting wanting to know if you love Jesus as often posted today, is emotionalizing love and this is not indicative of the love Jesus teaches..

Those who type 'amen' or share do not love Jesus more than those who do not.

As much as typing 'amen' is an acknowledgement of prayer, Heaven does not use this to evaluate your love for Him whether or not you typed or shared.

Rom 10:9-10 tells us what to do and this is the foundation of our salvation and this is that

*That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.*

*For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.*

Emotion can deceive. People often exaggerate expression of how they feel, all in the name of love. So when you say 'I love you', let us know what you mean.

We should not seek our own to determine love but seek the interest of others too.

Philippians 2:4: *Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others"*

1 Cor 13:5 says love *Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;*

1 Cor 13:7 says it *Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.*

When you emotionalize love you will be offended when your expectations of the love of others is not present.

We love through emotions and we hate through angry emotions

The bible teaches of God"s love regardless of our angry/hard emotions

Matt 5:44 tells us to *"Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;*

Matt 22:29 teaches us to love our neighbors as ourselves, Matt 22:39, ( even when they are bad ).

This is what makes it God's love.

God's love is full of emotions.

He died for us when we were sinners. In John 3:16 He was moved with compassion to die for us.

At the same time it is a love without sentiments for those who do not accept Him because they are condemned already, John 3:18.

His emotions have boundaries, Heb 10:38.

Love is reciprocal. 1 John 4:19 says

*We love him, because he first loved us.*

His love is both conditional.

Prov 8:17 says *I love them that love me;*

John 3:18 says *He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.*

His love is unconditional. John 3:16 says

*For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.*

Rom 5:8 *But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.*

God is love, true love originates from Him,

1 John 4:8.

Is God's love in your heart or is love just and emotion without a heart?

*Remorse corner.*

Love is a heart. This can be stronger than feelings and emotions.

*Call to Word action.*

Matt 22:37 *Jesus said unto him, “‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

True love is Agape love: God's love.

This is His command:

John 15:12:  *"......Love each other as I have loved you.*

*Prayer.*

Lord, let me love You and all from my heart.

Let love be more than an emotion to me but a heart in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day.

God bless you.

Shalom.
