*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*WHEN LOVE IS LOST... (2)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
2 Sam 11: 2,4 *And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.*
*And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness: and she returned unto her house.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
When perfect love is lost or is not found, love becomes lust.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
David lusted after Bathsheba, Samson lusted after several women notable amongst whom was Delilah.
In the case of David after he had committed adultery, 2 Sam 11: 27 says *'....David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son....."*
He could not have the perfect love expressed in marital love between himself and Bathsheba.
For one, David had many other wives. His love did not have set boundaries. It was indiscriminate.
Anyone who lusts will have illicit and indiscriminate sexual relationships, and they will be weaknesses to their opposite sex. They become people of easy virtues rather than people of virtue.
Matthew did not record David as the recognized husband of Bathsheba. Matthew records Uriah as the honorable and substantive husband of Bathsheba. Matt 1: 6 says, *"And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;*
Furthermore, God's displeasure of David's union with Bathsheba had been spelled out long before Matthew wrote his gospel. 2 Sam 11: 27b further says about David and Bathsheba, *"....But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord.*
Where lust is present, God is absent.
Those who lust can not find perfect love. They can not love the perfect way. Only perfect love will shut the door against lust.
1 John 4:18 tells us what perfect love is. Heb 13:4 explains this perfect love in the context of marriage.
When you say you love, make sure your heart is not saying lust.
*Remorse corner.*
When perfect love is not found, love becomes lust.
*Call to Word action.*
Rom 12:9-10 *Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.*
*Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
If you do not find love, you will find lust.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to have perfect love in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day today.
God bless you.
