WHEN LOVE IS FEIGNED

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*WHEN LOVE IS FEIGNED.....*

*Scripture Treasure.*

1 Samuel 18:17 *And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Merab, her will I give thee to wife: only be thou valiant for me, and fight the LORD'S battles. For Saul said, Let not mine hand be upon him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

People's mouth may be saying one thing, while their hearts may be saying a totally different thing.

*Scripture Tressure.*

2 Cor 6:6 admonishes us on love unfeigned.

Love unfeighned means, genuine in feeling, sincere and absence of hypocrisy.

When love is feigned, there is deceitful and insincere and fake love.

Saul was a prime example of love feigned.

King Saul gave Michal, his daughter, to David for a wife.

King Saul sought the death of David to the point that he pretended with this gesture that looked like love.

Saul would take no dowry from David, but *...... to cause David's death at the hands of the Philistines,* 1 Sam 18:21, 25.

A blatant move of hatred done 'sleekly' and unsuspecting appearing to some people as a show of love by Saul.

Michal loved David, so Saul exploited this opportunity, but David eventually destroyed the Philistines contrary to Saul's expectations.

We must be careful to accept things or gifts without knowing the reason behind them.

Many of us have accepted gifts that had turned out to be a snare to us.

Saul played on David's emotion to his (Saul's) own selfish manipulation.

Saul would later give Michal to Palti, son of Laish, and her love shifted.

David forcibly took Michal back from Palti while Palti followed after them, crying (2 Samuel 3:14–16).

Saul's deception and manipulations affected the love between Michal and David. It could be said their relationship developed adversely with Michal dishonoring God and David at the scene of bringing back the ark, 2 Sam 6:17, 20.

A true love of David was Michal, but her love and her real worth became obscure to David.

Saul, out of jealousy for David, diverted and manipulated love.

David did not know, but Saul knew his own deception.

Love feigned is love failed.

Be careful of people who may appear or sound friendly yet full of wickedness in their hearts.

*Remorse corner.*

An evil heart may lavish or adorn you with the most expensive gift.

Be careful.

*Call to Word action.*

Psalm 55:21 *The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Psalm 12:2 *They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.*

*Prayer.*

Lord, help and deliver me from love offered me in deception, in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day today.

God bless you.
