*Scripture Treasure.*

2 Kgs 2: 19-20 *And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.*

*And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Jericho passed from curses to cure.

2 Kgs 2:21-22 *And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.*

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Jericho had been under a curse from the days of Joshua. Joshua had spoken two curses on Jericho but exempting Rahab the harlot.

First in Joshua 6:17: *And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.*

Second in Joshua 6:26 *And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.*

The curses continued till the days of Elisha.

A man called Hiel in the days of Ahab rebuilt the city and the gates at the cost of the lives of his two sons, 1 Kgs 16: 34.

The curse was permanently reversed by Elisha.

Jericho passed from curses to cure.

In Matt 20:29-34, Jesus passed through Jericho healing the two blind beggars. Bathimmea

Today, history records Jericho as the oldest city in the world and as a city with the oldest known protective wall.

The leaders of Jericho sought the Lord during the times of Elisha (2 Kgs 2:19) and God reversed the curses through Elisha and this explains the existence of Jericho today.

Have you sought the Lord over those long existing problems?

*Remorse corner*

When we humble ourselves and seek divine intervention, God answers and restores.

*Call to Word action.*

When curses exist one convenience is not enough to outweigh one or more inconveniences. The city of Jericho was pleasant but the water waa bad and ground barren.

2 Kgs 2: 19-20 *".....the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

The heart cry of the men of Jericho to Elisha ended many years of long curses on the land. Have you cried to God concerning that long standing problem?

Lord remove all curses in any place, land or environment l find myself, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day today.

God bless you.
