WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR (5)

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR? (5)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Matt. 20:30 *And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

David was loved by God, and he remains the only mortal after whom Jesus is called.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

God immortalized David and plants him forever in our hearts.

David is not our Savior, but he stands as a distinct progenitor, Matt 1:1 *The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.*

There are two additional reasons

that are worth our mention about God's exceptional love for David.

These are;

First was Jesus's mention of David when he ate the shewbread that was meant for the priests.

Jesus said in Matt 12:3-5 *But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;*

*How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?*

*Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?*

It was unholy for David to eat the shewbread, but God spared him for this violation. This impunity was a privilege.

Second, David truly had a heart.

He respected the oil of God sparing the life of Saul, his arch enemy, and a king whom God had rejected, 1 Sam 24:8, 26:9.

He had a heart, not rejoicing at Saul's death, 2 Sam 1.

He had a heart by refusing to assume kingship of Israel while Saul was alive, though Saul had been rejected by God.

He became king of Hebron only when Saul was dead, 2 Sam 5:1-2.

He did not strive with Saul, though God had chosen him as king, 1 Sam 16:1

So we see that only on two occasions had David sinned against God, namely his sin against Uriah and his bloody hands.

David will forever be remembered for some unique reasons we do not know, but only God knows, and some reasons we are made to know through the scriptures.

Though David will not remain in leadership under the new testament but he remains one of God's role models, one after whose paternity Jesus is called.

What will you be remembered for?

*Remorse corner.*

David was not only remembered,

we will remember him in Jesus!

*Call tp Word action.*

1 Sam13:14 *But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the Lord commanded thee.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

David's reign was inherent in Christ reign, Psalm 89:29

Though David reigned over God's people, through him came a child that would rule and reign from the beginning to eternity.

*Prayer.*

Lord, remember me. Let generations remember me, in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
