WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR?(3)
*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR? (3)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Eccl 9:15 says, *"Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
When you touch a life, God will remember you.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Solomons word about the wise poor man tells us that people can forget moments of kindness.
The scripture recognises that people could forget to remember good done to them. Gen 40:23 says ,*"The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.*
To the good doer, this is an unforgettable moment of forgetfulness. People like Joseph can not just forget that people could forget kindness done to them.
So in life, there are unforgettable moments of forgetfulness, but thank
God, God remembers!
A good example is of a poor man who saved a city.
Eccl 9:15 says, *"Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.*
Though it is recorded, the city forgot the poor wise man, but the bible considers it as an unforgettable moment of deliverance of forgetfulness by the city that was delivered. So, God documented it for posterity.
This poor wise man was remembered for his wisdom.
Something brought him onto honor. It was not money, but his wisdom.
He did not get the praise for what he did, but he must have been content to do what he did.
Good people are satisfied having done good, so people of their time and history after them should remember them just as the Bible records them for remembrance.
Though wisdom, just like money, is a shelter, knowledge has an advantage over money. This advantage is that *".....wisdom preserves the life of its owner."* (Eccl 7:12).
The poor man's wisdom preserved his integrity and legacy in history. His wisdom outlived him.
His wisdom made him stronger, and he would be remembered than any strong or rich man of his time, Eccl 7:19
His wisdom made him stronger, and he would be remembered than any warrior and weapon of war of his time, Eccl 9:18.
The good and wise are not discouraged by anything but are encouraged by their zeal to do good.
This story teaches us that we do not have to be rich and strong enough to do good.
Your knowledge, wisdom, know-how, position, etc. can save someone.
It teaches us to listen to people. Do not judge any person by what he or she does not have. Remember Jesus' word in Luke 12:15 *"....for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.*
A poor person, even a person that looks unkept, a person that looks too young or old could have words that could save your life.
God remembered a man totally forgotten for saving a city. His words of wisdom were despised, and his words were not heard, Eccl 9:15.
God, however, remembered him saying he must be remembered for his wisdom and so he would be eternally remembered!
What will you be remembered for?
*Remorse corner.*
A good wise person, by his wisdom, will do what he could never do by strength.
*Call to Word action.*
Eccl 9:16 *Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
When you touch a life, though, people may despise you, God will make people remember you.
*Prayer.*
Lord, remember me.
Let generations to come remember me, in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
