WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR?

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR?*

*Scripture Treasure.*

*And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Samuel died, but his diligence is remembered.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Samuel died, but his work lived.

His death brought to an end the life of one of God's most faithful and fearing servants.

First, he is recorded to do more than expected compared to others.

Most servants are recorded as having prayed just as Samuel did, but he went extra miles to pray for Saul all night.

Second, he mourned, grieved for Saul when God rejected him, though Saul was alive, 1 Sam 15:10-11, 35.

To mourn or grieve were words used when there is a loss, particularly of a soul. Samuel anticipated Saul's loss of kingship, loss of God's presence as the same as Saul's demise. How he wished Saul would change and be accepted by God!

Third, just as other prophets, the people provoked Samuel, yet he at no time ceased from.praying for them, 1 Sam 12: 7-25.

Fourth, Samuel's zeal for God was remarkable. He was a perfect example of blamelessness, 1 Sam 12:1-5.

Fifth, Samuel was focused and faithful in an environment that had Hophi and Phineas. These boys of Eli with bad attitudes did not influence him. He grew and had favor with God, 1 Sam 2:26.

Sixth, Samuel's word became God's word, 1 Sam 3:19.

A climax of his enduring legacy is recorded in Jer 15:1, where God spoke of him on the same breath as Moses.

Samuel lived a life worthy of emulation!

What will you be remembered for?

*Remorse corner.*

Samuel and many notable prophets as recorded in the OT

represent the highest moral and spiritual leadership, Heb 11:32.

*Call to Word action.*

Samuel's presence brought God's presence.

1 Sam 16:4 *And Samuel did that which the LORD spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?”*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Samuel left a reputation that ranks him among the greatest, He followed God's heart, 1 Sam 9: 15-17

*Prayer.*

Lord, help me to live as one of God's most fearing and faithful followers of Jesus.

Let generations remember me for faithful service, in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day today.

God bless you.
