*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*UNDERSTANDING THE GIFT OF DIVERS KINDS OF TONGUES (6).*

*Scripture Treasure.*

2 Cor 14:28 *How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.*

*If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.*

*But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

As one who manifests in the gifts of the Spirit, Paul recommends good administration of them in beneficial demonstration and expression..

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Paul was not only concerned about the administration and the manifestation of the gift of divers kinds of tongues, he put in place a house-keeping order.

Paul tells us that the same Lord gives the gifts of the Spirit and that He *"....worketh all in all....."*, but they are;

First, *".....diversities of gifts....."*

Second, they are different in administration. Paul says there are *".....differences of administrations,*

Third, their operations differ. Paul says *"..... .there are diversities of operations....."* 1 Cor 12: 4-6.

In the next verse (v 12), Paul now emphasizes their manifestations.

Though the gifts are diverse (i.e., different), different in administration (i.e.,management, conducting), and different in operations

Paul says *But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.*, 1 Cor 12:7.

If the gifts are not manifested or pronounced to benefit others, the ultimate purpose of the gifts is defeated.

Though the gifts are different, but where would there be differences and diversities of operations when it is from the same Lord?

This is because the gifts are for different purposes, but each must profit all.

The meeting point for all gifts is the benefit to all people!

'Manifestation' in 1 Cor 12:7 means to make something evident or clear. There must be clarity and understanding, and everyone must be carried along and benefitted.

The difference in the gifts and their diversities does not suggest and must not suggest disorderliness.

Paul had to establish an order to ensure that the manifestation of the gifts profits all in the body.

The order put in place was behind Paul's ultimate reason why the gifts were given and to every man *"....to profit withal.*,1 Cor 12:7.

In order to ensure and facilitate the manifestation of the Spirit to profit all, there must be orderliness.

Orderliness makes the atmosphere

perceivable for the senses of understanding.

Gifts may be different and have different operations, administration, etc, but orderliness brings unity and oneness.

It shows we are one body.

1 Cor 12:12, Paul says *"....For as the body is one,......* and he further says *"......and hath many members,..."*

1 Cor 12:14 says *"For the body is not one member, but many"*

The *"......many members....."* explains the diversities and the different administration and operations of the gifts, ref 1 Cor 12:4-6.

Though we are one body, our needs are different, but we work as one, united, to see to each other's needs, 1 Cor 12:20, Rom 6:2

The order Paul put in place is as follows:

Paul wrote in 1 Cor 14:27-28  *If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.*

*But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.*

The same thing he said about prophesy.

1 Cor 14: 29-31 *Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.*

*If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.*

*For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.*

It is important for us to know that the Corinthian churches may have been a lot disorderly in the administration and manifestation of the gifts.

Paul's choice of words warnings about disorderly conduct and that God is not an author of confusion are indicative of the problems of disorderliness.

In 1 Cor 12:25, he says   *That there should be no schism in the body; ......"*

The problems of opposition, divisions, and disunity were dominant in the churches in Corinth.

Paul even saw a situation where some of them would or may disagree with him. He tells us to see what he writes as a commandment of God.

He wrote in 1 Cor 14:37 *If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.*

Paul saw a situation where some of them would rather manifest the gift of prophecy or divers kinds of tongues but be ignorant about its orderly administration.

1 Cor 14:38  *But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.*

Paul was implying here that he had written what could help them manifest and administer gifts successfully, but if any man wished to remain ignorant or unteachlable, so let it be!

He encourages tongue speaking. It is good, but *"Let all things be done decently and in order.."* 1 Cor 14:40.

You must both be a good administrator and manifest the gifts of the Spirit in the spirit of edification.

*Remorse corner.*

Be interested in both the manifestation and administration of the gifts of the Holy Spirit

*Call to Word action.*

If your gift is from God, you will be a good administrator of it.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Spiritual gifts are not for you alone. If you are not profiting others, you are only manifesting but not a good administrator!

*Prayer,*

Lord, help me to successfully manage and manifest the gifts of the Spirit in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.

Shalom.
