WISDOM FOR TODAY.
TREASURES OF INESTIMABLE VALUE (2).
Scripture Treasure.
Matthew 12:42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
Insight and Highlight.
It is in asking that God determines to give you what you did not ask for.
Scripture Commentaries.
Asking fulfills Jesus's expectations of the principles of receiving.
Solomon started by offering to God, 1 Kgs 3:3-4. After which God appeared to him in a dream, 1 Kgs 3:5.
It was in the dream that Solomon made his request to God.
When the Sovereignty of God is at work, the first can be the last. The last can be the first.
Though Solomon did not start by asking but what God did for Solomon did not and can not nullify Christ's request that we ask before we receive Matt 7:13-14. Jesus is greater than Solomon, Matt 12:42.
Asking is a command and a duty, asking to please God is a heart.
What comes from your mouth determines what is in your heart and will determine how God qualifies you for what you did not ask for.
Prayers that please God are the most indicators of God's treasure of inestimable value.
You can not live a life that does not please God and hope to pray to please him.
One may wonder and ask how Solomon could give an offering to please God for Him to appear to him.
You can not do that volume of sacrifice that Solomon did without a heart for God.
No matter what people may say about giving, tithing, sacrifices, etc, if you have a personal relationship with God, these things will remain undebatable and will remain your reasonable duty to your God, whatever anyone may say.
For you to please God with your request, your life must first be pleasing to him before you could even receive from Him how much more what you did not ask for.
Remember, Solomon first loved the Lord before he offered.
You can not love God yet complain about giving, sacrificing, or being asked to propagate His Kingdom.
Solomon's life further teaches us that it is in the act of asking that God sees the need to give you what you did not ask for.
While asking fulfills Christ's expectations, it is also an accelerant to receive either what you ask for or what God would give you without your asking.
When you ask, it is important you please God so that God may be pleased with your request.
Do you want treasures of inestimable value?
Please God!
Remorse corner.
Solomon fulfilled Christ's command to ask. Asking still remains a command, as Christ said.
Call to Word action.
In asking, God gives you more than you can ask for, Eph 3:20
