Insight and Highlight.Look in the mirror. It gives a clear reflection that 'Thou art the man'.
Scripture Commentaries.We look in the mirror to see how we look.According to James, a mirror will tell you how you really are. If you leave the mirror, you will immediately forget how you looked. A mirror is the perfect likeness of how we are.So, as you are, so will a good and clear mirror reveal to you. It is a well-known saying that 'mirrors do not lie, as you look in it, so you see your exact likeness'. It will not cheat you.When we say what we are not, we are asked to 'look in the mirror' to see our own true self and reflection.As much as it is good to look in the mirror to see our own reflection, it is also true to do so in order to ensure we are exactly what and who we say we are.Peter told Jesus what he was exactly not.In Luke 22:61, when he heard the cock crow the third time, Jesus looked at him, and he reminded himself that he was not who he said he was. He had just denied Jesus three times as Jesus had foretold him.The word of God uses the mirror as a perfect illustration of how God sees us and how we should see ourselves You can not run away from the mirror if you want a clear view of yourself , so you can not run away from God if you want a clear view of yourself.Just as the word of God will not lie concerning a wrong-doer so the mirror will not lie about your image in reflection.A person who tells others what he is not is like a person who looks in the mirror but goes away from it and by so doing forgets who he is.The mirror will 'tell' you you are the same reflection as one standing. The same is so of the word of God. It will not make a mistake or mince word in identifying that 'Thou art the man'.
Remorse corner.As you can not hide from the mirror you are standing before, so you can not hide from God.
Call to Word action.James 1:23-24 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:*For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.*
The Christian clarion duty.2 Cor 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
