*Scripture Treasure.*
Proverbs 20:2 *The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Seek peace with your leader. It will save your life, Prov 20:2.
*Scripture Commentaries*
Solomon tells us that there is a spirit of a leader that can rise against his subject(s), Eccl 10:4.
In this series, we looked at two questions.
First, how can a leader subdue or put his spirit of anger under subjection?
Second, how can a subject douse or pacify the leader's anger when his spirit of anger arises?
We have looked at the first question.
Yesterday, we looked at two things we should do to pacify the ruler's anger.
Today, we will further look at things we could do or what could happen if we fail to carefully handle a tense situation of anger.
Today, we will look further at two.
First, the subject must regain his master's peace. He may look for peace loving people or ways he can secure his leader's calmness and let his face be brightened.
Proverbs 16:15 *When a king's face brightens, there is life; his favor is like a rain cloud in spring.
The leader loves righteous lips that can calm him down.
Proverbs 16:13 *Righteous lips are a king's delight, and he who speaks honestly is beloved.*
Solomon admonishes us that we must be wise when we deal with angry leaders, though their anger may be as a result of our laxity or someone else's or may be the subject himself or herself.
If the subject refuses to respond favorably to his master's anger as if nothing had happened, his life may be at risk.
Second, Solomon warns us that a leader can destroy in his moment of anger.
Leaders in government have killed subjects outside of the judicial or legal process, ref 2 Kgs 6:31-33, Dan 3:13
Extrajudicial killings are common, and these leaders kill subjects without any regret, and the extra judicial killing will remain unquestionable.
Anti government movements have often been silenced by incumbent and powerful leaders of ungodly decrees. Some have subjected people to untold sufferings and death because of their anger ref Gen 40.
Solomon says in Prov 16:14 *The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.*
As a subject, be wise to turn away anger. Do not be among those who mock your leader.
Though Paul warns as parents over our children not to provoke them Eph 6:4, it is still important that we (as subjects) ought not dishonor but desire a peaceful coexistence.
Solomon says anyone who is wise turns away their anger and that of others.
Prov 29:8 *Mockers inflame a city, but the wise turn away anger.*
Play an amicable role when the spirit of a ruler rises up against you.
*Remorse corner.*
Seek peace with your leader.
Proverbs 19:12 *A king's rage is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.*
*Call to Word action.*
While your leader is angry, you can choose to refrain from anger. Be wise to reconcile with him rather than do evil.
Psalm 37:8 *Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
If you provoke your leader to anger, you are sinning against yourself.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to follow peace always, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
