*WISDOM FOR TODAY*

*THE POWER OF THE TRUTH (2).*

*Scripture Treasure.*

John 8:32 *And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Being set free is not being made free.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

In the world of today, the truth can set you free but only Jesus can make free.

For example a prisoner, can be released or set free having fully satisfied his terms of imprisonment.

He is 'set free' and absolved from the crimes he had committed. He can now go back to the society to live free and live in freedom without incumberances. He is removed from imprisonment or captivity, free from prison obligations or restriction, etc.

However, being 'set free' may be different from being 'made free'.

While a person 'set free' after satisfying his prison obligations and terms, could still return to prison/bondage if he repeats the same crimes, a person 'made free' is newly created, a new man after the image of Christ and is not expected to go back to his sin by the power of Christ that made him free.

Paul writes in Gal 5:1 *Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.*

He is made free never to commit crime again *"....old things are passed away;.... all things are become new"* 2 Cor 5:17.

He is made free to *".....sin no more, that nothing worse may happen....."*, to him, John 8:11.

To 'make free' means to be set apart totally unto moral and spiritual purity to actively strive for a blameless life through good works.

As a new creation in Christ, Peter teaches us that we become partakers of his divine nature. He writes in 2 Peter 1:3-7, giving us details;

v3  *According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:*

v4  *Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.*

v5  *And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;*

v6  *And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;*

v7  *And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.*

When you are made free, you will accept the truth, the knowledge of it and pursue it

even when it is difficult to accept.

While the truth can both 'set and make free', 'to make free' is more impactful. He is made free at liberty to never return to captivity again.

He is redeemed, liberated from the enslaving power of sin through faith in Jesus Christ.

Being made free allows people to enter into a relationship with God as His children, free from bondage.

When you are set free, spiritual chains are suspended but when you are made free, spiritual chains are broken.

You can not know the truth until you are made free.

You can not know the truth until you know Jesus.

This is the power of the truth!

*Remorse corner.*

There is freedom through truth when you are made free.

*Call to Word action.*

When you are born again, you are made free and there is a promise that a deeper understanding of spiritual truth will lead to freedom from sin

*The Christian clarion duty.*

When you are made free, you will come into accepting and living by the truth revealed in scripture and through faith

*Prayer.*

Lord, while l ask that You set me free from bondage, make me free and totally separated from bondage as a new creature in Christ, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day.

God bless you.

Shalom.
