*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*THE LION RESTS TODAY.*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Matt 27: 57-60 *When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:*
*He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.*
*And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,*
*And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Jesus, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, sleeps and rests in the tomb tonight.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
The death of Jesus corroborates God's proclamation of Saturday as the Sabath and the day of rest.
His body was prepared for His burial after He died on the cross (i.e., Friday).
*'Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation,....'* (i.e Saturday) Matt 27:57-62).
He was crucified as our Passover Lamb (1 Cor 5:7) and rested in the tomb on the Sabbath, today Saturday ref Exd 20:10.
As God rested on the seventh day( Saturday), so also His Son rested on the Sabbath, Gen 2:2-3.
Jesus rested from all His troubles after having lived for 33 and a half years.
Jesus, in His rest according to Rev 1:18 in His death took *"...the keys of hell and of death"*.
His death and rest today teach us as He taught us that there is rest for the weary soul, Matt 11:28.
His rest today teaches us there is rest for the people of God, Heb 4:9.
Jesus' rest today assures us that when we suffer physical death, we are not dead as the world dies, but we are only resting, Rom 6:5, 1 Cor 15:51.
His death teaches us that though He went through a week called Passion Week (Passion here means to 'suffer'), there is always a hope of deliverance after any suffering.
Are you resting just as the Lion is resting today?
May God give you deliverance and rest from every trouble facing you in Jesus name.
The Lion rests today.
He will rise from His rest!.
*Remorse corner.*
Hebrews 4:9 *There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.*
*Call to Word action.*
Gen 2:2-3 *And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.*
*And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Jesus was dead but came back from the dead to live. A life's lesson that teaches that death is never the end of any believer in Christ. The believer must rise again!, 1 Cor 15: 51-58
*Prayer.*
Lord, deliver me from laboring and weariness. Give my weariness rest in Jesus name
Good morning and a happy and ordained day of rest. May God revive you afresh for tomorrow, the first day of the week, and Resurrection morning, in Jesus name.
Be blessed as you go today.
God bless you.
