*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*THE LION OF JUDAH.*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Rev 5:5 *And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
The enemy, the devil, roars like a lion. Though, he roars like a lion, he is not the Lion of Judah.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Judah was the fourth of the six sons of Jacob and Leah.
To him, Jacob blessed, saying the scepter shall not depart and unto him shall the gathering of the people (all nation) shall be, Gen 49:10.
Along with Judah himself were King David, King Solomon, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
Judah is referred to as a Lion through Jesus: a symbol of bravery, royalty, strength, and victory.
While Jesus is referred to as the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the King Lion has been counterfeited by the devil.
Notable examples are the devil himself, 1 Pet 5:8 and a perfect example, as seen in Judges 13.
In Judges 13, we read how people can strive to sound like God.
This passage teaches us to learn to differentiate the voice of God from the voice of the devil.
It teaches us that though the devil may appear to say the word of God, his intentions and motives are not the same as God's Matt 4:1-11.
Judges 13:1, 11, tells us about *".....a man of God out of Judah by the word of the Lord unto Bethel: and Jeroboam..."* and *".....an old prophet in Bethel..."*
The man of God from Judah had just delivered God's message to Jeroboam with signs and wonders from the Lord.
Jeroboam believed he was from God and persuaded him to come home with him in order to be refreshed but the man of God from Judah refused because God had told him *"....Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.*, Judges 13:9
However, an old prophet from Judah, who had been told all *"....the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel....."*, Judges 13:11 approached him on the way lying to the man of God from Judah that he (the old prophet from Judah) was also a prophet and that an angel had spoken unto him *"....by the word of the Lord,....*" to bring back the man of God from Judah into the old prophet's house *"....that he may eat bread and drink water."*, Judges 13:18.
This was contrary to what God had told the man of God from Judah, Judges 13: 8, 17. So the old prophet was lying to the man of God from Judah.
It was a tragic end for the man of God from Judah, Judges 13: 19-32.
We must be careful in life, especially when people try to appear or sound like God.
We must be careful that people's word may sound like the word of God, but they are not God's.
Two people from Judah, yet one was true, but the other was a lie.
The true one, the man of God from Judah, the liar, was the old prophet from Judah.
We must always remember that a symbol, image, personality, and character in the form of a sacred thing does not necessarily point to the reality of the holy and sacred thing it represents.
The old prophet from Judah appeared and sounded the Lion of Judah, but he was not a lion!
*Remorse corner.*
2 Cor 11:14 *And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.*
*Call to Word action.*
Christ is the Lion, Amos 3:8, Rev 5:5.
When He roars like a lion, Is 31:4-7, Hos 11:10, He is the Lion in power and judgment.
As for the devil, be watchful, *Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:* 1 Pet 5:8.
*The Christian clarion duty.*
The devil walks about like a roaring lion, but he is not a lion.
He is only a walk-about. He lacks direction. He roars like a lion as he walks about, and he intimidates.
Do not fall victim to his intimidation.
Do not fall victim to his roars!
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to know when You talk and when You have stopped talking, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
