THE DEVIL'S TRADE OFF.

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*THE DEVIL'S TRADE OFF.*

*Scripture Treasure.*

1 Chron 10:13-14

*So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;*

*And enquired not of the Lord: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

The devil trades off your lifelong gain for temporary pleasure.People who go to the devil lose what they have when they begin to look for what they do not have.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Looking for any other source outside God in order to solve life's problems is like opening the doors to losing what God already gave you.

The devil does not add value to people's lives. He trades off. When the devil trades off, he makes a person

to give up something of value in return for something else.

Saul lost his life totally, and one of the reasons was that he *'....enquired not of the Lord: therefore he slew him,....*

It was not clear if God would have slain Saul if he did not ask counsel from the witch of Endor.

It is obvious here that his death was quickly accelerated by the counsel he sought from the witch. This brought all other transgressions into final judgment. 1 Chron 10:13 says, *".....his transgression, which he committed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord, which he kept not.....'* This provided further grounds on which he was slain by God.

God was angry with Saul. By His consultation to the witch, the devil traded off his consulation with the witch for his life.

Samuel had earlier told Saul he would be removed as king. No punishment of death to Saul was pronounced.

His ultimate fate of death was decreed by Samuel at the scene of the witch's divination.

When we turn to the devil in despair and in our desperation instead of following the leading of the Spirit, we will be cut off from God's help.

Saul lost the life he did not have to lose because he was afraid of losing a war he had not lost yet.

Just because God does not answer you now or He seems to be far does not mean He would not answer you.

Do not turn away from Him in your despair.

Though, God was not answering Saul because He had departed from Saul, but Saul failed to understand that calling on Him will be useless unless he turns from his ungodly ways.

Many have lost the lives they should have enjoyed longer, but they turned to the mediums, sorcerers, dividers, soothsayers, herbalists, etc.

Turn to God even when He does not appear to turn to you. He will show you mercy.

*Remorse corner.*

God is the giver of life. You have not lost your dreams in life because you still have His breath in you.

*Call to Word action.*

To turn to any medium or ungodly way will cut off God's supply of breath in any human being.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

In your despair, do not turn away from God. The farther God appears to be from you, the closer you should get to Him.

*Prayer.*

Lord, draw me close to You as l draw close to you, in Jesus name.

Good morning, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
