*Scripture Treasure.*

Prov 16:33 *We may throw the dice, but the LORD determines how they fall.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Only God determines outcomes.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Jesus, the best gift to mankind is the first and the last of His kind. No better gift could follow God's gift of Jesus.

In the world of today, people look for chances whichever way instead of God's power to make a way.

In the world, the best in a competition may not be the first. The first in a competition may not be the best because we live in a world of chance.

A world of chance is marked by being at the place at the right time, world of odds and favorites, opportunists, luck, etc.

Solomon says in Eccl 9:11 *l returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.*

Though chance, seized opportunities, and luck still rule the world, Jesus ruled out chance to give us God's will.

He did not come by chance but by the will and mercy of God, Gal 4:4.

The will and mercy of God prevail over life's dictates of chances. In fact, as a matter of truth, it is God's will and mercy that make the host of nature's chances and opportunists work for us.

Though human readiness, preparation, and practice do help in life's endeavors, we must submit every outcome, winning streak and success to God, Prov 16:33.

No man should boast on his ability as a reason for victory. Great men of abilities fall while men of little abilities go on to win a race.

There is no victory that is not known to God, and neither is there a defeat that is not known to Him.

Though things may happen by chance, God already knew the outcome before it happened.

There are people who win by chance, yet do not cheat, and there are those who cheat.

God is aware of the cheat, and He is aware of those who consulted a medium in order to win. Though people may win by any of these ways, their ways are not hidden from God.

For those who cheat, Solomon says in

Proverbs 20:17 *Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards, his mouth shall be filled with gravel.*

Those who win, by chance, Solomon says *"....time and chance happen to them all."*, Eccl 9:11.

For those who believe that everything, is God's providence and mercy, Rom 9:16 says *So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.*

While Solomon saw every outcome as a product of chance, God saw it as a product of His sovereign will of mercy.

There is, however, a meeting point.

The same line of words used by Solomon in Eccl 9:11 *....that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong,...* is similar to the same words used by Paul in Rom 9:16, but Solomon credited to chance while Paul attributed it to God's mercy.

Both statements of Solomon's chance and Paul's reference to God's mercy tell us that the first may not be the best, while the best may not be the first. The unqualified may be the qualified.

Jesus, by His mercy, has shown us He controls chances and eventualities. He *....removeth kings, and setteth up kings:...Dan 2:21. He can make the first last and the last first because He is the "Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.* Rev 22:13. Not by chance but by His sovereign power!

Jesus tells us that the One greater than Solomon is here, Matt 12:42. Therefore, God's mercy, as written by Paul, must be ultimately sought after, above looking for chance, luck as written by Solomon.

Jesus came to deliver us by God's mercy, not by chance!

Look, pray, and seek God's mercy first, above chance.

Seek God first above all things!

*Remorse corner.*

It is all about God, not chance!

Proverbs 21:31 *The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.*

*Call to Word action.*

1 Sam 2:9 *He will keep the feet of his saints, And the wicked shall be silent in darkness; For by strength shall no man prevail.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

God is willing to give us all things by His mercy. He can make opportunities and chance to work for you. Seek Him first. All forces will work in your favor!

Lord, help me to seek Your mercy first above all nature's chances and opportunities in Jesus name.

Good morning, all, and be blessed as you go today.

God bless you.
