Psalm 90: 9-12
*For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.*
*The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.*
*Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.*
*So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.*

God gives long life.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
God gives long life.
Whether a person lives average or short life is not hidden from God. All lives are in His hands.
We do not so much appreciate living together in harmony, but we often express missing one another when death occurs.
Death often expresses our heartfelt longing for a departed soul and though our sympathy, empathy and condolences are acknowledged in the scriptures (ref Rom 12:15), our resolve to question or be unhappy with God for taking away what He freely gives often explains human selfishness not to accept God as He is; the giver and taker of life, Job 1:21.
In the midst of life's heartbreaks, God is still good. He still gives us long life here on earth.
The word of God teaches us the importance of long life.
First, Exd 20:12 tells us that if we honour our father and mother, we will live long.
So honoring them can give you long life without recourse to praying for it.
Second, God promised Solomon longlife if he would lengthen his days, if he would keep His statutes and commandments, 1 Kgs 3:14.
Third, God does not allow any man to do His chosen and anointed to do them any harm.
Psalm 105:14-15 *He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;*
*Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do them no harm.*
Fourth, Ps 90: 10 says that by reason of strength, we can attain eighty years.
The psalmist says *"...yet is their strength labour and sorrow;..."* This may be another way of saying overstaying the agelong.
While a shortlived life may not be interpreted as the absence of God, a long life of eighty and more years must not be taken as God's blessing mixed with labour and sorrow and must not be regretted as we often do especially when the aged lose one or more of his/her offsprings.
God already told us that *....if our strength endures longer than eighty years yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away,*.
The longer a life is and as best as long life may be, there is a likelihood of trouble and sorrow (Jacob in Gen 47:9) but oftentimes the years may quickly pass without such trouble and sorrow.
You can ask God what you want along with long life.
Joseph lived to see three generations,
and they *".....were brought up on Joseph's knees."* Gen 50:23.
Job saw up to four generations, Job 42:16 and *"......died, being old and full of days."*, Job 42:17.
Psalm 128:6 says *Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel.*
Fifth, God says in Psalm 91:16 , *"With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.*
Christ is the giver of life. He gives it to whomsoever He pleases. Desire and ask Him for it. Make sure you hold on to Christ who gave it. Long life with Christ is another guarantee to eternal and endless life with Him, but long life without Christ will fade away as if you never had it and will end up in eternal hell.
*Remorse corner.*
It is not to say those who lived shorter lives were without God or that God could not give longer, but it remains eternally true that
God remains true to His word and says He will satisfy us with long life.
*Call to Word action.*
You can live long.
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Hold on to Christ. A life with Christ is a guarantee of a future eternal life of immortality.
*Prayer.*
Lord, please satisfy me with a long life that has no labour and sorrow in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
