Do not be a prisoner of your tongue.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Today, as it has been in time past, people have used the power of their negative words to bind and imprison themselves. Some have tragically ended in destruction.
Prov 18:21 says *Death and life are in the power of the tongue....."*
It further says those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.
Prov 13:2 *From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things, but the desire of the faithless is violence.*
This verse is saying no matter what we may be going through, we must not love to indulge ourselves into negative comments or else we invite violence, destruction etc.
As true as it is that we ought to say what we are passing through to people whom we may know could help us, we must however not confess evil tiding upon ourselves. Prov 13:3 *He who guards his mouth protects his life, but the one who opens his lips invites his own ruin.*
Believe in God that bad times shall pass. Ugly times must one day give way to good times, ref Ps 30:5.
If you indulge in cursing yourself, Solomon says you will *"...eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words."*, Prov 18:21b
Keep your conversations, utterances pure and edifying. Avoid condemnable utterances.
Prov 21:23 *He who guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from distress.*
Begin to reverse every bad word you have spoken into your life from this moment on!
