PARENTING GOD'S WAY

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*PARENTING GOD'S WAY.*

*Scripture Treasure.*

1 Sam 8:1,3-5 *And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.*

*And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.*

*Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah,*

*And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Parent must pray for their children. As you raise and train them, seek the help of God.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

We see from the scriptures that though parents can be ruly, their children may be wayward.

You can be a ruly parent yet raise an unruly child.

The bible did not condemn Samuel for bad parenting as it condemned Eli.

Though their atrocities were similar, but not related, the children of both Samuel and Eli were not fit for any recommendations talkless the priesthood.

It still remains troubling how the children of God fearing parents would choose to be channels by which their parents were rejected, either by God in Eli's case or by popular revolt as in Samuel's case.

Christian parents and their children should not redefine parenting. Parenting is bringing up a child and includes training them in the way of the Lord.

This is God's way of parenting. It must carry along with it, the fear of the Lord.

It is not a departure from godliness.

Parenting is God ordained, Eph 6:4.

Parents must earnestly call on God to help as they train their children.

Children explore and curiously get themselves exposed to indecency.

Most often, through peer pressure.

Every child must make up his/her mind.

It is an established truth that, though some parents may be slack at parenting, Godly parenting is still available for those who are willing to receive one.

God has defined parenting, Prov 22:6.

It prescribes discipline as a potent measure to achieve this.

We can not redefine it any other way. It is either godly or it is not. It is either present or absent in a home.

God has played His role, parents must play their part, so also children.

Where any of these is absent, there is a problem.

Children should not hide behind the desire to keep up with the joneses. Keeping up with your social equals is good, but buying into their indecency while they are not buying into your decency should be a cause for your concern.

Your strong desire to crave their ungodliness should give you a reason to ask yourself: "why are they changing me to follow after their patterns while they are not adapting to my ways as a child of a cleric?

Or is it because you never presented yourself to reflect the godly training you have received! Or did you not receive any?!

Take a cue from Samuel.

He was raised in the house of Eli, yet he chose what was good from Eli.

While Eli's children were wayward, he remained righteous in a crooked generation!

*Remorse corner.*

Parents take a cue from the mother of king Lemuel. Children take a cue from King Lemuel. He walked in the counsel of his mother.

Prov31:1 *The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.*

*Call to Word action.*

The child must accept godly parenting for it to be effective. Godly parenting is a combination of the God factor and the good choices a child makes, Eph 6:1-3.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Do not allow your environment to change you, but change your environment.

*Prayer.*

Lord, help me as l train the children you have given me, in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and be blessed as you come into His presence today.

God bless you.
