Deuteronomy 28:1– And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
Insight and Highlight
Obedience is a command.
Obedience to God is the hallmark of the child of God. To obey is to please God, to disobey is to bring His wrath.
It is not negotiable, there is no half or partial obedience. It is either you are in obedience or not.
1 Sam 15:22 .....Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
To disobey is tantamount to rejecting God.
Disobeying God's word is disobeying God Himself. It does not matter whether the word came directly from God or through His prophets. The word of Samuel was God's word, Saul disobeyed and it brought him grave consequences: 1 Sam 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
You cannot justify your disobedience.
The dialogue ensued between Samuel and Saul: Samuel asked Saul in 1 Sam 15:19-21 Why did you not obey the LORD....?
Saul said But I did obey the LORD....,
Samuel answered Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD?...
No one can outsmart or outwit God!
Obedience is so important to God that Jesus was made an example of how God can teach us obedience; Heb 5:8.– Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
Not so much that Jesus disobeyed but that He accepted God's perfect will to die without questioning God's will.
The scripture in Heb 5:8 simply teaches that if we resist obeying God, He can cause affliction to teach us obedience. Ps 119:71– It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
Would you rather simply obey or wait till you are taught obedience through affliction?
Obedience is a command to every soldier of Christ: "obey the last order, asking no question".

Eccl 8:12 – Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fears before him:
Lord, help me to submit myself to You in obedience. Do not afflict me before I accept to obey you, in Jesus' name.
