NON FOR PROFIT? (4)

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*NON FOR PROFIT? (4)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Luke 17: 7-10

v7.*But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?*

v8 *And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?*

v9 *Doth, he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.*

v10 *So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Eccl 9:10 says *"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might;....."*

*Scripture Commentaries.*

The parable of the unprofitable servant reminds us of the importance of doing *....the things that were commanded....*

Jesus, by this saying, is not discouraging doing more for God.

Moses said in Exd 36:5 *And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the LORD commanded to make.*

Moses had to command that no man or woman was to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary, Exd 36:5.

Doing more is just as good since obedience has led the way.

Jesus was not discouraging workers who exceeded expectations, and neither was He discouraging us to do more in the Kingdom.

This is because:

Firstly, the parable of the talents in Matt 25:14-19 tells us that the servant with five got an extra five while the one who got two got an extra two.

Secondly, Luke 12:48 says *.....For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.*

Thirdly, Eccl 9:10 says, *"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might;....."*

There is always work to do for the child of God. You are called to serve.

*Remorse corner.*

There is no limit to what a child of God can do. He could do all things through Christ who strengthened him, Phil 4:13.

*Call to Word action.*

Paul said he had served more *.....in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.*, 2 Cor 11:23.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Paul labored more abundantly, 1 Cor 15:10.

*Prayer.*

Lord, help me. Do not let me idle in the Lord’s vineyard, in Jesus name.

Good morning, all, and be blessed as you come into His presence today.

God bless you.
