*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*NIGHTMARE AND 'PRAYERMARE'*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Ps 34:4 says *I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
You must be scared, distressed etc enough to pray. Let your nightmare drive you enough to pray rather than be afraid not to pray.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
A nightmare is a fearful, frightening or unpleasant dream.
Prayermare can be described in two ways.
First is that people who have nightmares are often afraid to pray. They go on to develop fears to pray. They develop 'prayer mares'.
Second is that people who have prayermares often pray yet are afraid while they pray. So prayermare is warfare prayers in the midst of fear against fear. You pray yet you are afraid.
People pray because of a fearful, frightening or unpleasant dream or situation.
We must overcome anything that would make us afraid to pray against any fearful situation.
So when you find yourself in a situation where the fear or scare you have would not make you to pray or does not give you the motive and drive to pray, you have prayermare.
Fear, scare, anxiety, oppression, etc remain some of the major reasons why we pray, they can also be an obstacle to pray, 1 John 4:18.
Prayer is a solution to any nightmare.
The psalmist prayed in his fears.
The psalmist teaches us that people can be afraid in the place of prayer. They can have prayermare, but persistent prayers removes fear.
The psalmist teaches that you pray though you are afraid, you pray when fears come and you pray because you are afraid .
Ps 34:4 says *I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.*
Psalm118:5 says *I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.*
While nightmare scares you even to the point of praying, engaging in prayer will disperse nightmares.
Nobody or hardly would you see people who pray when they are at ease.
When we are living in luxury and security we will ignore the suffering and injustice around us.
Amos 6:1says *Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of* *Samaria, which* *are named chief of the nations,* *to whom the house of Israel*
*came!.*
Paul tells us that there are times *"..... we know not what we should pray for as we ought: ...."*
The only reason for this is, among many others, is fear, anxiety, worry, despair etc.
This is a troubling time for any Christian. You have a problem you or no one could solve yet you are so discouraged to pray to the God who is able to save you. It is a prayermare not to be able to pray
This may be worse than a nightmare itself.
However, Paul wrote saying *"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities:*
*we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.* Rom 8:26.
Effectual prayers of the righteous overcome nightmares and prayermares.
There is no fear, torment etc that prayer can not remove
Are you having nightmares and prayermares?
The Spirit can help you!
Do you pray?
*Remorse corner.*
There are dreams that frighten, Gen 41:1-8, Daniel 2, 4. Dreams that scare are nightmares and they bring fear.
Prayermare is being scared to pray over your nightmare.
*Call to Word action.*
Though you pray in your fears, you can overcome prayermare through persistent prayers, 1 Thess 5:17. The psalmist encourages us to pray in our fears and distresses, Ps 34:4, Ps 118:5.
*The Christian clarion duty.*
The Spirit is the cure to prayerlessness, prayermares and nightmares, Rom 8:26.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to cure fear that would make me afraid to pray. Help me to pray in my fears and let me receive deliverance in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
Shalom.
