LOVE AND LUST
*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*LOVE AND LUST.*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Proverbs 25:28 *A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.* (ESV)
*Insight and Highlight.*
Self-control is a virtue of a Spirit led believer, while lust is a sign of a person who walks in the flesh.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
The security of a person is his resolve to choose to walk in the Spirit.
He not only lives in the Spirit, he walks in it.
Gal 5:25 says, *"If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.*
His ability to do this is found in his decision to take the word of God to heart.
Ps 119:11 says, *"Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.*
If you take the word of God to heart, it will change you because your mind is renewed from the lustful thoughts of the world, Rom 12:1-2.
In this season of Valentine, some may be celebrating true love while some are finding new love.
While finding new love, be careful not to fall prey to lust or opportunists of it.
In addition to all other virtues that could help you avoid deception in the name of true love, is self-control.
Do not expose yourself to people who are eager to celebrate what love is but who do not know God's love, talkless of keeping the sacredness of love.
Gifts are good. They are a show of affection and should not be underrated because there are gifts from faithful admirers and suitors.
However, always look beyond gifts. At times, they may not measure up to the heart of the giver.
Prov 25:4 tells us that if we remove the dirt from the silver, we will see the beauty of the vessel for the finer, and we will see how it will come forth as a most pure vessel.
We can interpret Solomon's saying as meaning that a precious gift is beautiful if the dirt in the heart of the giver is removed.
Prov 25:5 says you can not see the righteousness of a king unless the wicked around him are removed.
You can only know the sincerity of a person, and his heart is clean only when evil influence is far from him.
Remember, love is patient, 1 Cor 13:4-8.
Love is silent and watches with carefulness, but lust is a roar. Love says wait, lust says now.
Love heals the heart, but lust breaks it.
Be careful. Watch and pray!
*Remorse corner.*
Remember self-control.
If you can not control the situation, control your attitude. You may not be able to control a person's advances, but you can control yourself.
*Call to Word action.*
Gal 5: 24-25 *And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
When we lose self-control, we become immoral. Immoral people get in trouble with God, get in trouble with themselves, and with others.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me and do not let me get into trouble with You, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day today.
God bless you.
