*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*LIFE IS SHORT, ETERNITY IS LONG.*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Joshua 5:6 *For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD sware that he would not shew them the land, which the LORD sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Life is too short, but it is not a day's journey.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Israel had spent 430 years in Egypt.
After their deliverance, God took them through *".....the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God did not take them through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near;...."*. This was because He did not want them to return to Egypt, Exd 13:17-18.
It was God's intention that they got to the promised land as soon as they left Egypt so as to worship Him.
God gave them manna, new every day, Exd 6:4-28, but the Israelites craved after the delicacies of Egypt. They were very ungrateful to God, Number 11: 4-6.
A journey the Israelites could have made in a short distance, young lives that could have enjoyed the promised land all wasted away because of their unbelief, Heb 3:19, 4:6.
Life may seem long to us, but a thousand years is like a day before God, 2 Pet 3:8.
God's plan is that we enjoy life, Eccl 9:5.
If we fail to trust and appreciate God, life will be meaningless no matter how long or short it may appear to us.
What the young Israelites had from God was not satisfactory to them. They saw death and did not fulfill the plans of God for their lives.
No matter how long we spend here, we are only strangers on this earth. This makes life short, Heb 11:9-10. Only eternity with Christ is forever, 1 Thess 4:17.
I know you would rather spend eternity with Christ, not in hell.
The Israelites did not realize the gifts of God until they lost them.
When you live for God, you will see that the Lord has done great things for you.
We will live long and fruitful years, but the reality is that life is short, but eternity with God is long and fruitful.
Be content!
*Remorse corner.*
Does what Christ give you seem unsatisfactory? Be content, or else Satan will give you the opposite, and this will make your life miserable.
*Call to Word action.*
Life may appear short, but when lived well in the plan of God, it is acceptable to God.
Numbers 14:30 *Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Life may be short, but we need God in the journey of life. Though life is short, it can not be a day's journey. We need God to come through for us day by day throughout our journeys of life.
*Prayer*
Lord, make my life worth living. Let me live for You, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day today.
God bless you.
