*JESUS, OUR PERFECT SACRIFICE.*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Hebrews 10:12 *But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;*
*Insight and Highlight.*
What more do we need besides Jesus as our perfect sacrifice?
Nothing!
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Human sacrifice is an abomination to God, Deut 12:31, 18:10.
God sacrificed Jesus in place of humanity. His refusal to allow the sacrifice of Isaac points to God's resolve against human sacrifice, Gen 22:1-19.
So God is against human sacrifice, but why did He sacrifice Jesus for our sins?
Jesus was sacrificed for the following reasons.
First, God did not sacrifice any human being but Himself in Christ.
Paul says in 2 Cor 5:19 *'.....that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself.*
God, through the sacrifice of Jesus, teaches us the pains of human sacrifice and shows us there is no good reason why anyone should sacrifice others if he could not sacrifice himself instead.
Jesus, as sacrifice is God as sacrifice, who is *'....touched with the feeling of our infirmities;....'*, Heb 4:15.
*"In all their affliction, He was afflicted, And the angel of His presence saved them…”* , Isaiah 63:9.
Second, God can not die as humans used for sacrifices die. So He brought Himself in Jesus in human form. This is why when Jesus died as human, He rose up, conquering death and lives forever more, 1 Cor 15:4.
Sinful man can not take away the sinfulness of another.
Jesus was not wholly human, He was wholly God as well. He needed to be wholly God because no man in the flesh could take away the sin of the sinful flesh. This made Him a perfect sacrifice.
The wholeness of God in Him was to show that only God could atone for the sinfulness of man. The wholeness of God in Christ made Him sinless in human flesh while the wholeness of man in Him was reflected in His hunger, sleepiness, etc.
Third, Jesus, as sacrifice, was for once and for all, indicating a beginning and end to any form of sacrifice.
Fourth, human sacrifice is to appease ancestors and spirits, 1 Kgs 21:6, 2 Kings 16:3.
Human sacrifice is always done to achieve a selfish end, for example, to avert a military disaster, 2 Kgs 3:27.
The sacrifice of Jesus is for all generations, both past, present, and future. It is not for God but from God to us. Jesus' sacrifice was out of love.
Human sacrifices are fettish and include other sacrifices. It is selfish. It is not for the world.
Human sacrifices have grave consequences. The blood of the sacrificed hunt and are snares to many generations to come.
Fifth, human sacrifice results in the permanent death of the human who was sacrificed.
God is a perfect example of everything.
He made Himself a perfect example of pain, sorrow, anguish, and an ultimate sacrifice.
He did this so that no one would feel or know the pain He went through.
Stop human or any form of ritual sacrifice! None will save you. They will only add more to your problems.
Accept Christ as your perfect sacrifice today!
*Remorse corner.*
Jesus, our perfect sacrifice tells us that we do not need any other sacrifice!
*Call to Word action.*
For all those who accept His sacrifice, Jesus not only sits at the right hand of God, He also intercede for them.
He is at the *".....right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us."*, Rom 8:34.
