*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*JESUS (7)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Matt 10:34

*Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.*

*For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Jesus is the price paid for our peace.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

The death of Jesus was the ultimate price paid for our sins.

In His death comprises of many prices paid along.

Colossians 2:13-14, tells us how Jesus paid the price of our sins by blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us *"....and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;*"

1 John 2:2, tells us that Jesus is the atoning sacrifice, not just for our sins, but for the whole world.

Romans 5:8 tells us of His longsuffering and endurance, dying for us while we were sinners.

In Galatians 3:13, He broke the condemnation of the law by carrying the curse upon Himself dying on a tree (the cross) thus pacifying God's anger over our sins and allowing God's blessing to come to all through faith in Jesus.

The big test today is the separation that is still enduring with us and this is the separation, the internal wars within families of why a child raised up not as a Christian would later become one.

Jesus made it clear in Matt 10:35 that He had not come to send peace on the earth but a sword to set a man at variance with either his immediate, nuclear family, or his family by marriage or distant or all inclusive.

Jesus' word is not contrary to Him as the Prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6) and finds more expression to the price paid for our peace.

First is, He paid the price of peace by being the first to be hated before we are hated, John 15:18.

Second, His good news message will cause division separating people (even families) between belief and unbelief, the Christian faith and other religions.

There will be tough choices between Christ or family love or ties.

The religious split will be so intense that people faithful to Christ will be persecuted and killed for their love for Christ, 2 Tim 3:12, Acts 7:59-60, 14:12.

It is not a call for war but a warning that His gospel would cause a divide (division or separation) causing a father or mother to disown their children and or often between loved ones.

This is the price some believers who come from hostile families still pay today and are still paying but are comforted with Jesus' word reminding us that He had already paid the price of our peace. Thete will be separations but It is a matter of time.

Jesus said in John 16:33 *These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.*

Jesus teaches us that peace comes at a cost. Freedom is not freely given but often comes at a price.

He emphasizes that loving family or anything more than Him makes one unfit to be His disciple, requiring ultimate commitment.

This is why He teaches us to count the cost of following Him, Lk 14: 26-28.

The ultimate price has been paid for our peace. His death and ressurection can no longer be overcome by Satan but he still militates against our peace and freedom.

We can overcome reminding ourselves that the price has been paid but the fight still continues because Satan wants to ensure that we do not partake in Christ's divine nature to the end.

Remember that those people who keep their faith [endure; stand firm; persevere] until the end will be saved, Matt 24:13.

They are the ones who will triumphantly say the ultimate price Jesus paid redeemed them!

*Remorse corner.*

Though He paid the price for our freedom, an unfree world will still demand the price of peace from Christ's followers whom Christ has fully paid the price for their sins, (ref John 16:33)

*Call to Word action.*

While the price He paid is everlasting and for the corporate Church, the individual still lives all day long *As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.*

(Rom 8:36)

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Jesus tells His disciples not to expect an easy, cozy path. His gospel and mission will still bring conflict, setting individuals against their own households.

However, remember He said *".....lo l am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.*

*Prayer.*

Thank You for the price You paid for my peace in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day.

God bless you.

Shalom.
