*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*JESUS (13)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
John 14:1-3
*Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.*
*In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.*
*And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Jesus is the way!
*Scripture Commentaries.*
One of the most tragic thing in life is the inability of a person to know where he is going.
Knowing the way is one of the quickest ways to get to your destination.
In life one may tend to know a way but not the way and in life people tend to know a way but not really know the way, Prov 14:12 and 16:25.
'The way' means the correct, and acceptable, recognized path, road, inlet, outlet either to make an entry or exit.
'A way' suggests, any possible path, that would facilitate an entry or exit but not necessarily the acceptable way.
For example, the door to your house is the way into your house. To come through your window into your house, is a way into your house but will arouse suspicion from passersby or anyone and makes you questionable as the owner of your house.
Jesus said in John 14:6 *".....I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."*
Here Jesus teaches us that as He is the Way to the Father, there is no other way acceptable to God except through Him.
Some people devise 'a way' to God.
Some people who believe you are your own God or that soothsayers, diviners, enchanters, herbalists, familiar spirits etc are agents of God sent to man.
God warns us against them, Deut 18:10-12. They are strictly forbidden.
The joy of every believer of Jesus is that they know where they are going after life on earth.
Jesus said in John 14:5 *And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.*
Jesus is the revealer of heaven and those who follow Him are heaven bound.
Thomas' remark teaches us that there are people who claim to follow Jesus but do not know the Jesus they follow, John 14:7-9.
Jesus replied Thomas' question in
John 14: 5 *"......Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?*
"*......he that hath seen me hath seen the Father...."*
*".....Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me..."* John 14:9, 11.
The death of a believer is considered as 'sleep'. He is transitioned eternally to a new life with God.
In Acts 7, after the stoning of Stephen, *"....he fell asleep."*
1 Thess 4:13-18, Paul tells us that those believers who have died have only *"......fallen asleep..."* indicating death as a temporary state for believers, not an end.
While death causes us sorrow, it is precious in God's sight (Psalm 116:15) and a transition to their new home: the house Jesus went to prepare for them in heaven.
As believers, we do not live to only hope of life with Christ after death. We have hope here too.
Jesus wants us to be heavenly minded but not earthly useless.
Remember the blessings we enjoy here. Our daily conquest of Satan, God's divine provision, life of abundance (John 10:10b) , His peace in the times of trouble, His grace and command to enjoy life regardless of its troubles etc.
Jesus is the Way!
Those who follow Him will never miss the Way.
Those who do not follow Him look for a way that is not the Way!
Are you following the Way or a way?
*Remorse corner.*
Those who are Christ's followers have hopes of being raised after death. This was why Jesus rose from the dead. So our hope in Christ is not limited to this world. It is real. Our lives extends beyond now!
*Call to Word action.*
1 Corinthians 15:19:
*lf in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Jesus assures us of being with the Lord forever and we are assured of not being without Him here on earth.
*Prayer.*
Lord help me as l follow to enter in at the strait gate. Let me follow the narrow way which leads to life.
Please do not let me enter in the wide gate
and follow the broad way that leads to destruction in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day.
God bless you
Shalom.
