*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*JESUS (11)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
John 1:17
*For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Grace, one of God's richest gifts, was given at Christ's expense.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Paul writes in 1 Tim 1:8-10.
*But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;*
*Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,*
*For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;*
As good as the law is Paul tells us that
The letter of the law kills (2 Cor 3:6).
This is because the law (the ten commandments fondly reffered to as the law of Moses).
It leads to death because people fail to perfectly keep them.
Heb 10:28 says *He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:*
The law brought by Moses is a law of condemnation but Jesus Christ brought life.
Rom 8:1-3 tells us that the law brings condemnation but the Spirit brings the opportunity to change or transform through salvation to ensure we are free from sin.
Paul further tells us of the inability of law to change anyone. It was weak, so God sent Jesus to grant us grace to give us an internal motivation through the Spirit in other to overcome our sinful drives.
Grace through Christ is divine favour, an undeserved mercy. Despite our unworthiness and grace through Jesus gave us rescue from punishment.
Grace was given at the expense of Christ who was made sin but knew no sin (2 Cor 5:21), became a substitution to die in our place (1 John 2:2) and a scape goat (ref Lev 16:10).
Grace has kept you. You did not earn protection and the life you live in. None of us deserve to live but God gave it to us.
Appreciate and thank God for Jesus.
1 Thess 1:8 says *In every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.*
Have you thanked Jesus today?
Do not frustrate the grace that saved you! (ref Gal 2:21).
*Remorse corner.*
Sin is so bad before God that it cost a life.
That life was the life of Jesus.
*Call to Word action.*
The anger of God was pacified. His wrath was satisfied when Jesus died for our sins.
*The Christian clarion duty.*
The law brought condemnation. Grace through Jesus brought life.
*Prayer.*
Lord l thank You for the grace that saved me. Thank You for giving me Jesus, in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
Shalom.
