IN CHRIST ALONE (2)
*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*IN CHRIST ALONE (2)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Proverbs 27:24 *for riches are not forever, nor does a crown endure to every generation.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Though one may transfer wealth or any form of inheritance to his children, no one could transfer his strength and power to sustain it from generation to generation.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Solomon teaches us in Prov 27:24 that some things can not be perpetuated.
There are somethings that are intrinsic. They are innate and inborn and are only peculiar to a person. They are endowed and are not necessarily transferable.
People transfer wealth by inheritance.
Prov 13: 22 says *A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children*
Solomon says, wealth as a substance of inheritance is transferable, but the intrinsic power, the know-how, the gifted innate quality to sustain the inheritance may not be in the beneficiary as it was in the testator (i.e the one who passed it on).
The same goes for talents and gifts of artwork, handicraft, or any of ingenuity.
A singer father may not necessarily produce a singer child.
A football prodigy may not reproduce another kind of himself.
A shrewd and successful business tycoon may not produce one like himself.
This makes Solomon to teach us that dominion, strength, power, etc, are not forever. They can not be delivered or transmitted from generation to generation.
This further tells us that dominion, in form of crown, succession do not in itself endure. Though royal princes succeed in the lineage of family succession to the throne, the success ability will vary. The longevity of life, attitude, behavioral patterns and the peculiar gene to succeed successfully are all factors that determine their vulnerability for long-lasting legacy.
Solomon's teaching is an eye opener on riches. This tells us that the plans to perpetuate it by succession is not guaranteed.
*Remorse corner.*
The only guarantee for riches to be constant is having the One who made it. Inheritance or passing it on does not perpetuate it. Only the One from whom it comes from can make it endure.
*Call to Word action.*
Riches come from Heaven. Make sure you have the God of Heaven in order to sustain it unto your next generations.
Proverbs 23:4-18 *For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away as an eagle toward heaven.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Do you want your riches to survive many generations after you? Teach your children to know God and the fear of Him who richly provided it.
1 Timothy 6:17 *Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be conceited and not to put their hope in the uncertainty of wealth, but in God, who richly provides all things for us to enjoy.*
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to teach my children, above all things, to put their hope in God who richly provide all things, in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day today.
God bless you.
