IN CHRIST ALONE.

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*IN CHRIST ALONE.*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Proverbs 27:24 *for riches are not forever, nor does a crown endure to every generation.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

In Christ alone, we exist.

Solomon teaches that nothing endures forever or from one generation to the other if God is not in it.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Solomon began the book of Proverbs telling us about wisdom. He says the fear of God is the beginning of it, Prov 1:7.

He continues in Eccl 1: 17 saying

that though he gave his *....heart to know wisdom,....*, he also knew *......madness and folly:...*.

This teaches that a heart that knows God but gives way to know madness will attain vanity and a *....vexation of spirit.*

In the book of Songs of Solomon, we see a youthful but exuberant Solomon. His drive for sexual and romantic buoyancy was vivid. Often with overtly sexual contents and because it was uncontrolled, this led him to his waterloo in life, ref 1 Kgs 11:1.

These three books teach us that Solomon may have written Proverbs during his first and early encounter with God. Songs of Solomon in his youthful, young and vibrant age and the book of Ecclesiastes which is a sad reflection and regret of a life that started with God but later fell out of God into vanity.

Solomon, having succeeded his father David, was applauded by scriptures for his God given wisdom and riches. He built the Temple in Jerusalem and though he was well endorsed as God's wisest King, he did not end well in purity, 1 Kgs 11.

His son, Rehoboam (1 Kgs 12), in succession was worse. Under him, the whole nation of Israel was split into two, Israel to the north and Judah to the South.

What did not entail under his grandfather, David and his father, Solomon happened under him. A whole nation was divided.

We must learn from Solomon's word in Proverbs 27:24 *for riches are not forever, nor does a crown endure to every generation.*

The riches of Solomon did not continue in Rehoboam neither was the crown established firmly in his time.

After Rehoboam, succeeding kings were either good or bad. The thrones of Israel and Judah became so bad and corrupted.

Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took both Israel's, Judah's kings and subject into captivity.

He destroyed the temple Solomon built and took away its treasures, 2 Kings 24-25

David's failure, Solomon's apostacy, and Rehoboam' reckless rules could not have sustained riches and dominion over Israel but for God's presence and everlasting, unchangeable covenant over David.

The only guarantee for everlasting riches and dominion goes beyond a father to son inheritance or legacy.

When you are passing on a rich or not so rich inheritance to your children, make sure you first pass on the fear of God to them!

In Christ alone will riches and crown endure to all generations.

*Remorse corner.*

Succession does not guarantee continued riches and dominion.

*Call to Word action.*

If not for God's covenant of salt that David would not cease to be on the throne, anything could have happened to the Davidic kingdom over Israel,

Jeremiah 33:17 *For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

The presence of God is the only perpetuity and guarantee of everlasting riches and dominion.

This is why Jesus is the Son of David.

*Prayer.*

Lord, help me to pass on a legacy of the fear of God to my next generations in order to ensure continued riches and dominion in Jesus name.

Good morning and a happy new month- IN CHRIST ALONE.

Only in Christ can we or anything we have endure and remain in existence.

Stay with Christ this month.

God bless you.
