*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*GOD STILL HEALS.*
*Scripture Treasure.*
3 John 2:
*Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Psalm 91:16 *With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.*
*Scripture Commentaries.*
People die of sicknesses. Some may be of few days, months or several years later.
Usually or attimes people may carry ailments that may not show symptoms. Others may carry clear and obvious symptoms.
There are two types of people when it comes to dealing with sicknesses.
First is the people who are sick in their bodies yet continue to live in their battles to recover not because the pain is less but because they could carry it.
There is no one whom we can say is able to carry infirmities unless God grants the grace to tolerate and live with the pain.
The woman who bled for twelve years, (Mk 5:25-34, Lk 8:43-48), the woman who was bent over for eighteen years (Lk 13:11–13), and a man who was lame for thirty-eight years (John 5:1-15), are perfect examples of people who lived with pains, not because the pain was less, but because they were able to carry it.
They did not have a choice and while some are short lived, today, because of their pains, they were biblical examples of people who lived in pains.
Paul was never healed and though the bible does not tell the age he died, we know from the scriptures that he had a chronic *"......thorn in the flesh"*, (2 Cor 12), which he carried all his life, not because the pain was less but because God gave him the grace to carry it.
Paul and others were under torment for those periods of time.
Second is the type of people who are
suddenly struck with illness. It might have been a build-up in their bodies or by reason of old age, and the illness immediately terminates their lives.
Example is Elisha in 2 Kgs 13:14. The scripture says *"Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died....."*
While the ailment or infirmities of the woman with the issue of blood, the woman who was bent over for eighteen years
and the man who was lame for thirty-eight years were mentioned, that of Elisha was unspecified nor disclosed. He could not carry or may not have carried his ailment for long.
Whichever ways these types of ailments/sicknesses may take, what remains true is that sickness remains one of major causes of death.
While we pray against any form of sicknesses, we ought to pray against any eventuality that limits longevity.
The lives of Paul and Elisha teach us that men and women of God do carry pain/sicknesses and often die from it.
This does not make them any less men of God to those who lived healthier lives unto their death.
However, we can be assured that we can live sickness free lives and this ought to be the mindset of every child of God.
First, God gave us promises.
Exodus 15:26: "*l am the Lord, who heals you.*
Rom 8:32 says God can freely give us all things.
2 Pet 1:3 says God has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness.
Psalm 103:3: says He *"...forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;*
Psalm 147:3: *"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds"*
Psalms 90:10 tells us that God can spare us beyond 70 years.
Psalm 91:16 tells us that God can satisfy us with long life.
Jer 30:17 says *For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal*
Jer 33:10 says *Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.*
God, not only gives divine healing, He gives divine health. The story of the ten lepers tells us how ten lepers were healed, but one was not only healed, he was made whole! Lk 17:12-19.
Second is, God has given us power to heal all manner of sicknesses . So rather than be under the affliction of sicknesses, we are empowered to overcome them. He does not want us to be subjected to what He has given us power over, Matt 10:1, Luke 10:19.
*Remorse corner.*
Every sickness is rebukable and reversible.
Matt 8: 5-13,14-16.
*Call to Word action.*
God still heals any form of illnesses, diseases etc.
Matthew 4:23: *"Jesus went about all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people"*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
The same God who still gives the grace to carry sicknesses, is also able to freely give the grace to live without sicknesses!, Exd 15:26, Deut 7:15,
*Prayer.*
Lord, heal me and let me not be in subjection to any manner of sicknesses which You have given me power to subdue. Let me live a life free of any manner of sickness in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
Shalom.
