*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*GOD'S PROVIDENCE IN DELAY.*
*Scripture Treasure.*
1 Sam 10:8,,13:8 *And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I will come down unto thee, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shalt thou tarry, till I come to thee, and shew thee what thou shalt do.*
*And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
There is nothing wrong in God. Even in His delay, therein is His providence. Wait for Him.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Samuel told Saul to wait for him, seven days. Samuel told him to wait until he comes to offer sacrifices. Saul must not do anything until he has been shown what to do.
God tested Saul's obedience by the providential delay of Samuel beyond the agreed upon seven days.
In desperation, 1 Sam 10:8 and presumption, 1 Sam 10:9, Saul proceeded to offer a sacrifice contrary to God's word. Saul suffered greatly in the Hands of God. God replaced Saul for this, 1 Sam 13:13-14.
One of the many terrible flaws of Saul was his lack of intimacy with God.
The only instance of Saul's communion with God is recorded in 1 Sam 28:6. When God did not answer him, his resolve to quickly move on to consult witchcraft was most revealing of how Saul had deeply derailed from God.
Anyone with an unshakable confidence in God will wait until God is pacified before taking any step.
Many have failed in the waiting room of prayer and patience. Instead of waiting to be called for their appointments, they had hurriedly rushed to be called before their time or hurriedly left out of impatience.
The delay of Samuel to Gigal was a test.
Saul was more about self and was more afraid of the people than divine instructions.
If God loves you and you love God, you will see Him in everything.
There is God's providence, in delay.
*Remorse Corner.*
Your desire to please God must be greater than your desire for greatness in your own eyes or the eyes of people.
*Call to Word action.*
Exodus 13:17 *And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Receive God's counsel with childlike humility, dependence and obedience.
*Prayer*
Lord, guide me in the journey of life through faith. Let me see what seems to appear as delay as Your plan to accomplish Your purpose in my life, in Jesus name
Good morning all and be blessed as you come into His presence today.
God bless you.
