FAITH OF OLD (4).

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*FAITH OF OLD (4).*

*Scripture Treasure.*

2 Peter 1:5-15

*And beside this, giving all diligence, add; to your faith virtue and to virtue knowledge;*

*And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;*

*And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.*

*For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.*

*But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.*

*Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:*

*For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.*

*Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.*

*Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;*

*Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.*

*Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Faith requires other Godly virtues to make it stand.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Paul is telling us in our passage of today that for faith to last the test of time, it needs other Christian virtues to make it sound and solid.

Just as James says in James 2:17 that

*Faith without works is dead.*, so you can not have faith without essential attributes, as Paul mentioned.

This includes all the Fruit of the Spirit, Gal 5:22-23.

Paul tells us that these virtues should abound in us so that we will be fruitful

in *".....the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.*

Along with the virtues Paul mentioned, he says anyone who *.....lacketh these things is blind, and can not see afar off,...*

From the foregoing, we can see how Paul tells us what we need to do in order to sustain our faith in God.

It tells us that anyone who has faith must have love, must be ready to persevere, must be patient, etc.

To have faith of old you must do what the people of old did. You must have faith that is common to the people of the early apostles and church.

You can not belong to the faith of old and be in a hurry.

You can not have the faith of old without the fruit of the Spirit.

*Remorse corner.*

Faith of old and virtues added are not old but new as a new day.

*Call to Word action.*

You can not have the faith of old without diligently adding *....to your faith virtues..*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Faith does not walk alone.

*Prayer.*

Lord, help me to diligently add to my faith virtue. Let me abound in true Christian faith, in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day in Jesus name.

God bless you.
