2 Timothy 4:11 *Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.*

When there is a need to engage someone, every hostility must be suspended.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Paul and Barnabas had a sharp contention over John Mark. Acts 15:39 says, *There arose a sharp disagreement, so that they separated from each other.*

Paul later requested that Mark be brought to him because he is profitable.

One may say that Paul did not realize how profitable Mark was until he lost him. In 2 Tim 4:11, Paul now realized and was not going to pretend or mince words that he needed him for the ministry.

Paul could have avoided asking for Mark's return, but when there is a need, it must overide our want.

Paul's sharp contention may be considered what he wanted but not necessarily needful for him to do to Mark before God.

God created a vacuum, and engaging Mark will bring about the profitable change required.

This is a wise move by Paul, and it serves as a lesson for the church.

The world of sports has used engagement as a way to bring real change.

Though racist chants and violence have remained a major threat, the sport world's engagement of nations has been one of the ways they have used sports to bring about world unity.

Unless otherwise stated by nations in question, nations all over the world have been given equal opportunities.

When there is a dispute or a nation is isolating itself, the sports world has come to realise that only engagement can bring real change.

Hosting rights have been one of the most powerful weapons to engage a hostile nation. This has made them open their doors to other nations.

Hosting rights have broken religious barriers. Where tourists have been considered to be participating in activities at their own risks, sports engagement has provided a conducive leveler accommodating all cultures, beliefs, and tastes that would not have been relaxed in ordinary circumstances.

Only engagement can bring real change.

Paul requested for Mark. Mark responded immediately, not bringing into question why Paul would need him again.

Engagement can not be achieved without your participation.

Lord, help us to break every barrier that stands in the way of engagement that brings real change in Jesus name.
