END OF THE WICKED AND THEIR WICKEDNESS
*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*END OF THE WICKED AND THEIR WICKEDNESS.*
*Scripture Treasure.*
2 Kgs 22: 9 *But they hearkened not: and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than did the nations whom the Lord destroyed before the children of Israel.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Prov 29:2 *When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.*
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Manasseh was king Hezekiah's son. He reigned as one of the most wicked kings in the southern kingdom of Judah. He was not as righteous as king Hezekiah, his father.
2 Kgs 21:16 says *"....Manasseh also shed so much innocent blood that he filled Jerusalem from end to end..."*
Jer 15:4 attributes God's destructive judgment of His people to the sins of Manasseh.
Jer 15:1, God says even if Moses and Samuel prayed for His people, He would not hear.
He was succeeded by his son, Amon, who was as wicked as his father.
Many people died in the reigns of Manasseh and Amon.
However Amon's son Josiah was a good king and for his good works God spared him of the impending judgment on the nation, 2 Kgs 22:18-22
Josiah defeated the evil system and those who followed him were saved but those who refused were utterly destroyed, 2 Kgs 22:17.
If we seek to defeat an evil system with the word of God, much people will be saved alive.
Much attention however is placed on destroying the person of evil. It does work to destroy the evil people, (Ps 11:6, Prov 11:10) but we see in the lives of Manasseh and his son Amon, that though both kings died, their evil works did not die but was perpetuated.
It was when Josiah came to destroy the evil works of his father and grand father that evil works were replaced by good works.
*Remorse Corner.*
As much as we pray that the wicked be cut off from our lands so also we ought to pray that their evil works cease and come to an end.
*Call to Word action.*
1 John 3:8 *He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Evil people are just as bad as their works. We must earnestly pray God to make to cease and destroy both the wicked and their wickedness, Prov 7:9
*Prayer.*
Lord, cut off the wicked and their evil works from our lands, in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day today.
God bless you.
