DO NOT LET YOUR GUARD DOWN(2)

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*DO NOT LET YOUR GUARD DOWN (2)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

1 Kgs 13:15-17  *Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread.*

*And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:*

*For it was said to me by the word of the Lord....."*

*"....So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

1 John 4:1 *Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.*

*Scripture Commentaries.*

How shall any child of God escape from the warning as stated by the Apostle John in 1 John 4:1 *".....believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God:...."*

We can be so carried away by the people's admiration, adulation, acclamation and recognition of a minister that we lose the need *"to test...."* his spirit.

Besides flatteries and false sense of appeal another factor that often stand in the way of the believer from testing every spirit, is food.

It is not food that is bad, but the strong and uncontrollable desire for it. Prov 23:1-2 warns us to observe self control when we are enticed with food.

How food has caused the fall of many in the kingdom cannot be overemphasized.

Saul, in Gen 25: 29-34, 1 Sam 28: 20-25.

Today, uncontrollable apetite for food is termed eating disorder.

1 Cor 6:13 ► *Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them....."*

A lying prophet brought an untimely and undeserving death of an unassuming prophet. The same who brought him down sarcastically mocked him in his death.

The lying prophet, unapologetic, said about the younger prophet, saying, *"...It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the Lord: therefore the Lord hath delivered him unto the lion,...."*,,1 Kgs 13:18.

We live in a world that is tragic. Most people who seek your attention or appear to be of help to you often do so to achieve their private goals or end.

If you failed to test all spirit and you fell, you are on your own.

Most people will not care about what you go through as long as their own selfish ends are achieved.

*Remorse corner.*

The old prophet saw the tragic end of a promising but gullible younger prophet.

Test all spirits!

*Call to Word action*

1 Kgs 13:31 *And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones:*

What will being burried in the sepulcre of the younger prophet do to a dead and gone prophet? The old prophet had only made selfish and self adulating remark, all about himself, ref 1 Kgs 13:31.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Watch and pray!

For the man of God from Judah, destinies could no longer be reversed. His ministry had been aborted, he had been wounded in the field of battle, dying was the only option available to him, so he died.

*Prayer.*

Lord help me that l may not die untimely.

Let me not be deceived onto perdition.

Let me overcome the baits and traps of the enemy, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day today.

God bless you.
