Matt 12:24-29

*But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.*

*And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:*

*And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?*

*And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.*

*But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.*

*Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Take it back! Do not leave room for Satan.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Jesus, after giving deliverance to *".....a man with withered hand,..."*.......*"....one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw." Matt 12:10-13, the Pharisees came after Him *".....to how they might destroy him."*, Matt 12:14.

They not only came that they might destroy Him, they accused that Jesus *".....doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils."*, Matt 12: 22, 25.

Jesus teaches us a few things here.

First is that Satan can not set free those he has placed under bondage.

A man with withered hands, blind and dumb, are all under the possession of Satan.

It highlights the importance of knowing that going to sorcerers, herbalists, etc for deliverance can not work.

Jesus said *".....lf Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?* Matt 12:26.

Second is that Satan has a house (home) in those who are his victims. Satan calls such a house his house.

Matt 12:43-45 says when an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes out seeking to find another place but if he is not able to find one *".....he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out;*

Third, is that the Spirit of God is stronger than the spirits of Satan and only the Spirit can spoil (destroy) his house.

The Spirit of God is reffered to, according to the words of Jesus as the one who *"......bind the strong man?*

Satan is referred to as *"......the strong man,...."* Matt 12:29.

Fourth, it is important that those who go to Satan for miracles must never come to testify in the name of Jesus knowing fully well that they never came seeking Jesus's miracle.

Paul tells us that Satan can work miracles, Matt 24:24 says *For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."*

In the same understanding, no one must arrogate power to Satan over what God did.

Jesus says doing such is *"........blasphemy*

*against the Holy Ghost..."* just as the Pharisees arrogated the Spirit's miracle to Beelzebub, Matt 12:31-32.

You give room to Satan when you sin. You house Satan when you are occupied with his thoughts. Satan becomes lord over you when you do not accept the Lordship of Jesus or you reject him as Lord and personal Saviour.

*Remorse corner.*

Jesus teaches that only in the Spirit can we have victory over Satan. The Spirit is incomparably strong!

*Call to Word action.*

Satan is a stronghold, 2 Cor 10:4-5, he is a strong man (Matt 12:29). There is no power greater than Jesus power.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Do not give room to Satan. He does not have any right to be in your life!

*Prayer.*

Lord, help me to keep the door of my heart shut to Satan, in Jesus name.
