Gen 6: 5-6 *And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.*

*And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.*

God has regrets over wicked people.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Man's sin can only be summarized as wickedness.

Those who are wicked are not only wicked to fellow humans but against the Person of God.

There was no other sin mentioned why God regretted He created man

Wickedness of the children of men was the one and only reason why God regretted He created man.

Wickedness summarizes all sins.

The consequence was destruction.

Gen 6:7 *And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.*

Paul says *"....the wages of sin is death,* Rom 6:23.

God's statement over His regret that He created man because of their wickedness should tell us how a good God feels about bad people.

It grieved His heart to see that all He created was good but to see that what He created turned bad is most disrespectful and disappointing to a Father.

People who are wicked do not have any respect for God.

Paul writes in Rom 3:11-18

*There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.*

*They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.*

*Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:*

*Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:*

*Their feet are swift to shed blood:*

*Destruction and misery are in their ways:*

*And the way of peace have they not known:*

*There is no fear of God before their eyes*

If the wicked do not fear God, they do not love Him. If they do not love God, they can not love you!

Avoiding wicked people is not a sin but hating them is.

Paul says in Rom 16:17-18

*Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.*

*For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.*

God can destroy and still destroys the wicked.

Though He is rich in mercy, Eph 2:4, there is a limit to His mercy. It is not limitless for those who refuse to repent and turn to Him, ref Gen 19:24-25, Luke 13:6-9.

Why would you choose wickedness knowing God would ultimately destroy you?

Shun wickedness!

God holds a holy opposition to the wicked

Ps 5:5, 11:5. Why would you want God to oppose you?

God however changes His indignation if there is repentance.

He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked but wants them to turn from their ways (Ezekiel 33:11),

Ezk 18:21 *Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.*

Help me to see Your goodness all the days of my life. Let me not be wicked to fellow humans and You in Jesus name.
