*DISCIPLINE YOUR BODY.*
*Scripture Treasure.*
1 Cor 9:27 (NLT) *I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Lack of self-control disqualifies one from eternity.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
One of man's greatest enemy is man himself.
Self-control plays a vital role in what one eventually becomes here on earth and eternity.
Paul warns us that there is a place for diligent service, and there is a place for self-control.
Paul could win soul for God, and as much as he could put people's lives under the control of Christ, he also must discipline himself by putting his body under control in order to avoid losing totally all he had worked for.
Though we are born again, we can still be influenced by the sinful desires of the flesh.
As we work to attain in the Spirit, the flesh works to resist us.
Jesus warns us saying *Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.* {Matthew 26 41}.
We must walk, never to fulfill its sinful desires.
Paul warns us, saying that if we fail to discipline our bodies, we may end up being cast away from God and eternity!
*Remorse corner.*
Though we live in the body of flesh, the body of flesh still remains a threat to us. If we fail to discipline it, it could be our greatest enemy.
