*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*CONFESS, DO NOT COVER UP.*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Gen 3:7 *And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
When sin creeps in, the first step is to confess. To first try to cover-up suggests
a proud desire to save our credit before men over obtaining pardon from God.
(1 John 1:9).
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Adam and Eve sinned greatly against God
They not only died morally but also spiritually and physical death followed.
As a result of the conciousness of their sins, Adam and Eve sewed leaves to cover their nakedness. This was their own substitution to cover their own shame, Gen 3:7.
Covering their own nakedness was foremost in their hearts. How God will feel was secondary to them.
How people will not see their nakedness was more important to them than how they had despised and dishonored God.
Inspite of our filth, we cover-up to appear good before people. They did not know they were dealing with God- the All knowing.
Today there are so many coverups.
Trying to cover up "cleverly or wittingly" never erases nakedness occasioned by sin.
Instead of a humble repentance, the first advance of Adam and Eve was to "adorn" themselves rather than deal with the sin.
Outward adornment of our person rather than dealing with our filthy inward person is prirotized today just as it was with Adam and Eve.
It is usually out of pride and this proud desire to sweep the sin under the carpet is always disappointed.
They perceived that, out of their newly found "knowledge" through disobedience they will find help but it only brought shame.
There is no way we can cover our nakedness before God. Everything done in darkness is light to Him, Ps 139:12.
The damage had been done and grave consequences must follow unto many generations to come, Gen 3:16-19.
Not only the damage done, but also the act of cover up. To hope to move on as if nothing had happened or covering a nakedness that God already saw and knew made their action contemptible before God.
Imagine if they were dealing with humans who did not know their hearts. They would have got away with their actions, but God knew their hearts. He asked them *".....Who told thee that thou wast naked?....*, Gen 3:11.
Those who are in the way of the world are refered to as people whose "eyes are opened". When eyes are opened this way, it is always at the expense of peace with God.
It is not worth having anything in this world at the expense of Christ's peace, ref Mark 8:36.
Becareful!
*Remorse corner.*
Covering a sin by covering our nakedness is not enough to erase the sin.
*Call to Word action.*
Prov 28:13 *He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Do the needful first, confess your sins to God, then He will cover your nakedness.
*Prayer.*
Lord forgive us our sins, in Jesus name.
Good morning all and have a blessed day today.
God bless you.
