*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*COME WHAT MAY.*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Daniel 6:4-11
*Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.*
*Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.*
*Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.*
*All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.*
*Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.*
*Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.*
*Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.*
*Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
When people pray, come what may, they receive God's will, regardless.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Daniel was one of God's most perfect examples of people who pray, serve, and fear God, regardless of what anybody, people, or government may say or threaten to do.
A believer who chooses to do anything for God 'come what may' will be making a powerful and resolute statement of commitment and determination to do
God's will, even when outcomes are uncertain or unfavorable, ref Rom 8: 37-39
Daniel, and others like him, set the blueprint for Christian character that Christians who are lukewarm or are double-minded may not be able to make an exact copy of.
He was a great example, as with many of God's most faithful and fearful people who lived what they wrote and preached.
He wrote in Daniel 11:32 *"......but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.*
Daniel 6 records how Daniel was set over one hundred and twenty and was most preferred of all of them.
The presidents and princes could not find anything against Daniel except they *".... find it against him concerning the law of his God.* Dan 6:5.
So they colluded and unduly influenced the king to sign their sinister decree *".....that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.*, Dan 6:8.
Daniel, in one of the most daring and fearless moves, went into his house and opened his window towards Jerusalem, and he prayed.
He could not afford to miss a day's prayer how much more thirty days.
His enemies knew he loved God, he dared them, and they found out that nothing would separate him from his God, ref Rom 8:35.
His conspirators saw *".....Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.*
Daniel did not hide praying for the fear of being seen. The whole of Daniel records him praying and specifically mentions he prayed three times a day, but opening his window towards Jerusalem receives a special mention here.
It was at the most sensitive time that people should not see him pray talkless of the act of opening his windows. It was a clear way that most openly defied the unfair but legal legislation.
As much as God wants us to pray for those who are in authority, 1 Tim 2:1-2, accord them with honor and be in subjection to them because they are ordained by Him, Rom 13:1, He expressed great concerns against those who make unrighteous decrees.
Isaiah 10:1 says *Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees".*
Daniel faced terrible persecution and was thrown into the lion's den.
He knew the consequences of those who defied the decree, but he made up his mind to face the penalty, come what may.
His story teaches us that not everything legal is righteous.
Furthermore, attimes, we may not see God's power until we have taken a violent step that would provoke God to violently break the barrier keeping His power away from us.
God may be willing that we sacrifice our convenience to fulfill our righteous convictions for Him.
Circumstances did not provide a place or chance for Daniel not to pray, but he prayed when it was most difficult to pray.
He must pray as he does for God to do what He wants to do for him.
Daniel teaches us that anytime you do not feel like praying or it is difficult to pray is the time you need to pray.
Attimes doing the right thing does not always prevent persecution or the worst children of men would do, but we can be assured of God walking through any difficult situation with us.
As Daniel wrote, God will always protect us. He protected him because *"...forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.* Dan 6:22.
*Remorse corner.*
While you are waiting on God, be sure it is not God waiting on you to do the needful.
*Call on Word action.*
Prov 28:1 *The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
A Christian represents the boldness of a lion when, come what may, he/she chooses to do and lives in accordance with God's will.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to boldly do the needful for my needed miracle to come in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and be blessed as you come into His presence today..
God bless you.
Shalom.
