*Scripture Commentaries.*

For some of us, it is the end of another year, yet nothing seems to have changed.

The same pattern of things since the year started, the same struggle with sickness and disappointment, hopes have become hopeless, faith had become faithless, worry, anxiety are all over you. You are almost losing trust in God more than you had at the beginning of the year.

Here are some cues to strengthen you as you approach 2024.

First, be thankful to God. 1 Thess 5: 18

*In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you*

The truth of this verse is that it is God's will to thank Him in either good or bad situations. To thank Him now and always because He gave us Christ. This is God's will for us.

He had held you up thus far to support and prevent you from falling away and dying, You could see every day of 2023. He has sustained you to weather the storms of 2023, and you now have a new gift of a new year 2024.

Second, we must be aware of the evil around us. Jesus says every day has its evil, Matt 6:34.

Jesus was saying that every day has more than enough trouble of its own.

So we must earnestly pray against Satan. Worrying is one of Satan's weapons. It is one of many distractions that could make you hate yourself and keep away from God.

Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. Anxiety does not prevent troubles, but prayer does!

We all do not want bad happenings, but Jesus tells us that evil will rear up its ugly heads every day, and the good news is that we can overcome through Him. Just because every day has its evil does not mean it will happen to us, and even when it happens, God can ensure it does not consume us. We overcome it through Christ Jesus.

Third is understanding why Jesus mentioned sufficient evil for everyday life rather good for every day.

He was warning us to brace up and prepare ourselves, get ready to steel and fortify ourselves against forces of darkness against us.

He was also telling us to *...Be strong and of a good courage:...*

We must not be ignorant of Satan. The more knowledge of Satan we have, the more knowledge of his activities and how to use our weapons of spiritual warfare against him, the less power he will have over us, Eph 6, 2 Cor 2:11.

To conquer Satan, remember these passages:

First Job 38:12-13 says *Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;*

*That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?*

Wake up every day and tell God your good expectations for the day.

Second, by doing so, you will be denying the wicked power to do evil.

Job 38:14 says the wicked has rights to do evil. It is their light ( or delight), but we can deny them this right, or delight or light.

It says that the wicked can be *'....denied their light, and their upraised arm is broken.*

Third, God further challenged Job and asked if he knew the world he lived in.

Do you know the world you live in?

Job 38:18-19 *Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth?* *Tell me, if you know all this.*

*What is the way to the abode of light?* *And where does darkness reside?*

By this, God was saying to Job that there is light and there is darkness in this world.

Again, do you know the world you live in?

Thank God for 2023 because you are coming out of it alive.

The best of it can still come in these remaining few hours of it, so thank God for the Light of the world, Jesus!

*Remorse corner.*

You must thank Him, serve Him, and pray more this coming 2024.

*Call to Word action.*

God still remembers you! *...Be strong and of good courage.*

Lord, l thank you for 2023. I am coming out of it alive to see 2024 and many more in fulfilled expectations, in Jesus name.

Good morning, all, and be blessed as you come into His presence today.

God bless you.
