ARE YOU WALKING ON A TIGHT ROPE?

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*ARE YOU WALKING ON A TIGHTROPE?*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Daniel 5: 5,25: *ln the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.*

25  *And this is the writing that was written, Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

God does not want us to sin. However instead of being humble, some people choose to walk on a tight rope and find themselves in situations where one more mistake becomes dangerous and fatal.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Belshazzar threw a feast. Little did he know that he was walking on a tightrope. He fell into a fatal error trying to make everybody happy.

He was the grandson of King Nebuchadnezzar.

His, grandfather, Nebuchadnezzar, had invaded Judah and took holy items from the temple, 2 Chron 36:7, Daniel 5:2-3.

In this party, these holy items were used as party favors. The guests drank from the golden vessels from the temple, getting sinfully drunk from the wine from them.

King Belshazzar did many foolish things in his reign. This feast of lavish drunkeness marked a turn of no return for him. His sin had reached a point of no return.

During this party, a large disembodied human hand inscribes four words no one seems to understand. *"The king watched the hand as it wrote"*, (Dan 5:5).

The king Belshazzar was frightened so he summons all the wise men in Babylon to interpret but none could but Daniel.

We all must learn from the sad end of king Belshazzar.

First, do not misuse anything sacred. This can range from a gift God has given you which is sacred.

Belshazzar and his guests abused the objects from the temple of God, and thus, invoked the wrath of the Lord.

Second, we do not know when our hour is coming. God will either visit in His pleasure or anger.

The parable of the rich fool in Luke 12:16-21. That very night, God took away his life, and thus, his legacy to build bigger barns was dissolved.

Why choose to walk on a tight rope?

Be humble, obedient, defile not that which is holy. Failure of which you may find yourself in a situation where God may visit anytime to change course or end it all.

May we walk humbly to the end, in Jesus name.

*Remorse corner.*

Belshazzar, defied the holy vessels through his party. At the end, he found himself in a difficult situation he could not come out of.

*Call to Word action.*

Daniel's interpretation revealed. God intended the king and his kingdom to fall.

Daniel 5: 30  *In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

God's patience does run out.

*Prayer*

Lord, help me, do not let me behave foolishly. Let not your anger consume me, in Jesus name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
