*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*ANOINTING (3).*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Numbers 27:18 *So the LORD said to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership, and lay your hand on him.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
Anointing is transferable.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Deut 34:9 tells us that Joshua was full of the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands upon him*
Joshua will no longer live ordinarily but in the Spirit.
The anointing upon Him now meant *"......all the congregation of the Israelites will obey him."* Numb 27:20.
His transformation was remarkable because the hands of Moses were laid on him.
Joshua continued in this anointing of leadership and authority.
Elisha's bones raising the dead further teaches us as follows.
We will mention two today.
First is that anointing is transferable, and the anointing of a man can still live in the life of an anointed successor/recipient/ followers long after the death of the transferer.
Anointing can best be transferred by contact. The rubbing off with oil, laying of hand of a vessel with an indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, were widely known in the ministries of Moses, Numb 27:12, and Samuel, 1 Sam 10:1, 1 Sam 16:12-13
Bodily contact of the anointed brought life both in the ministry of Elijah, 1 Kgs 17:21, and in that of Elisha, 2 Kgs 4:34.
The body of the dead lsraelite that was revived in the sepulchre of Elisha was second to none in the Old Testament.
Second is that time does not change or annul the word of the anointed.
Just as God spoke to Jeremiah, He watches over His word and hasten over to perform it (Jer 1:12), so it is also the word of the anointed.
The bible records how words spoken by Moses, Joshua, Elijah, Elisha found fulfillment many years later, long after they had died, (translated in the case of Elijah), John 5:46, Joshua 6:26, 1 Kgs 16:34, 2 Kgs 9: 36.
The words of David, in addition to the above anointed, became standards by which people were measured in the scriptures, 1 Kgs 15:3, 2 Kgs 14:3.
You can be anointed by God for service through a vessel of God, but you must be holy.
Remember, the one whom God calls and uses as a vessel must be holy.
*Remorse corner.*
The condition to receiving anointing is the love for righteousness and hatred for iniquity.
*Call to Word action.*
Heb 1:9 *Thou hast loved righteousness and hated iniquity; therefore God, even Thy God, hath anointed Thee with the oil of gladness above Thy fellows.”*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
You can be a vessel for anointing if you depart from iniquity, 2 Tim 2:19.
*Prayer.*
Lord anoint me for Your service, in Jesus name.
Good morning, all, and be blessed as you come into His presence.
God bless you.
