ANOINTING (11)

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*ANOINTING (11)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Luke 4:27 *And there were many in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”*

*Insight and Highlight.*

The anointed walks in the essential features of Christ.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Since the ascension of Christ, the anointed has become the representative of Christ's earthly ministry.

Greater works are expected of them, and with the power of the Spirit, everything Christ did is brought to us as if they were just happening anew.

In today’s look at the anointing, we will look at two lessons.

First, Elisha dead body raising the dead foreshadows Jesus as a life-giving Spirit, 1 Cor 15:45.

The Spirit's work on the dead Elisha was God's finished work on him.

This was almost the same as God's finished work on Elijah.

Translating Elijah instead of going through death was God's endorsement of a truly great, anointed man of God.

Second, the power to raise from the grave of Elisha foreshadows the resurrection of the last days.

The complete resurrection, however, will start with Christ, Matt 27:32.

Though it foreshadows the resurrection of the last days but it will be of a difference. Elisha was dead yet gave life to one who was once a dead person, but Christ being dead rose to bring life to His saints so that they may live as He lives.

Elisha becomes a shadow of what was to come, a model on which Christ's resurrection on the last was patterned but not the reality of Christ.

Paul says in Col 2:17 that the likes of such as this *'.....are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.* (NIV)

Unlike Elisha, the resurrection of the saints will be for many and will be known to many.

Matt 27:52 records *'And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,*

*And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.*

This was why Paul told King Agrippa that *'......this thing was not done in a corner" (Acts 26:26).*

Elisha raising of the dead in his grave was done 'in a corner' but Christ resurrection of His saints will not be in *'.....a corner...'* but will be known by many.

In Christ, all the hope we have and all we long for will be revealed.

The dead man brought to life by Elisha's bones would have died again, but those who rose at Christ's resurrection did not die again because they rose for the manifestation of Christ's resurrection.

The man who was raised was one, but those Christ will raise are and will be many.

*Remorse corner.*

Everything the anointed does no longer become a shadow of Christ but the reality of Christ.

*Call to Word action.*

John14:12 *Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

The exploits of the anointed bring to us the present and active God.

*Prayer.*

Anoint me, O Lord, in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day today.

God bless you.
