*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
ANOINTING (10)
*Scripture Treasure.*
2 Sam 1: 16 *And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the Lord's anointed.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
David recognized anointing even in the death of an anointed, ref 2 Kgs 13:21
*Scripture Commentaries.*
In 2 Sam 1, a man, an Amakekite, ran to David with the wrong version of Saul's death.
David, though he could not verify the truthfulness of the man's story, David believed Saul was dead.
He ordered the man's execution and mourned over Saul's death.
It was the man's intention to further provoke David's hostility over Saul and encourage David to offer praise over Saul's death.
There was more to David's charge to the children of Judah and the daughters of Israel.
His charge was not just to issue a clarion call to them to protect the fallen anointed but to warn them of how some unscrupulous people like the Amalekite could creep into their midst to incite them into violence.
It is important that when crisis calls in the body of Christ that members of the body are informed to brace themselves up in the Spirit of orderliness or else they will fall into the spirit of delusional disorderliness through people whose aims are to divide and destroy unity.
These divisionist can be both within and outside the body of Christ.
Paul warns us about them in Acts 20: 30-31
He said ,".....of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them......therefore watch...."*
If you do not believe the truth of David's charge you will believe the story of the Amalekite and his motive to further destroy an already sad story for David, the gory story of the death of anointed Saul and the mystified, bewildered nation of Israel
We should be alert.
We must align with the anointed of God both in thick and thin, in good standing or in error, in his rise and God, not permitting by His grace, his fall.
The Amalekite was slain because he slew the anointed with his tongue.
Do not slay the anointed with your tongue.
Do not end like the Amalekite!
*Remorse corner.*
Be careful of the Amalekite and the inciter!
*Call to Word action.*
Proverbs 16:28 *A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
An anointed man of God, even in his error, remains a man of God. Saul, even in his fallen state, remained an anointed King. Remember Samuel told Saul that he and his sons would be where Samuel was, 1 Sam 28:19.
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me to obey the charge to support and uphold the anointed. Let me not follow those who incite, to divide and cause rebellion, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
