ALLOWING THE PAST TO PASS (2)

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*ALLOWING THE PAST TO PASS (2)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Luke 9:62 *And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

If uncontrolled, our pasts could be a force so tempting that we find ourselves going back and falling into them.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

The parable of the sower in Mark 4:18-20 tells us that one may hear the word of God. yet be unfruitful in its application.

Since they have no root in him, the seed of the word of God is not sown on good soil and thus become as those *"..which are sown among thorns;...."*

This is because as he hears the word *"...the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.*

Our uncontrolled pleasure for riches, cares fame, and positions are identifiable past we must learn to forget.

Numb 11:5-6; 20:5 tells us that if we fail to do away with past pleasures, we can miss out on God.

While free from captivity, the children of Israel still craved for the delicacies of Egypt.

Some people still crave after sinful pleasures, yet claim to be in Christ.

You must be prepared to fully do away with the slave and sin mentality of Egypt to be a liberated Israel.

While as a free nation in the wilderness, the Israelites' deep craving for the meals of captivity did not make them realise the value of God’s miraculous provision in the present .

They forgot they were being fed, not for their good nourishment but that they may be used for labor.

Jesus knows there are lustful attractions of the world. He therefore prepares us to make up our minds.

Do not put your hands on the plow and look back.

When the farmer or plower looks back, he will lose on the best of the soil or lose on turning it over as he prepares for the planting of seeds.

So also the Christian will lose the present if he will not allow his lustful past to pass away.

What are your distractions?

Mark them and ask God to help you do away with them right now!

*Remorse corner*

Romans 12:2 *And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.*

*Call to Word action.*

If you are too full or rich with worldly pleasure, forgetting God, remember this scripture in Matthew 19:23 *Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I tell you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

If you do not allow your past to pass, it will pass you away.

*Prayer.*

Lord, help me to deal with anything that will distract me from Christ in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
