Our enemies need to be with us to betray us.

Joshua had conquered great nations but lost to Ai, a very small city.
This became a national embarrassment that Joshua had to pray to God, lying face down, Joshua 7:6.
Their problems were not far-fetched.
It was an enemy within that caused the defeat. Their loss had nothing to do other than Achan, an insider in the camp, a son of the tribe of Judah, Joshua 7:18-19.
Jesus's teaches that our enemies are not far from us. They need to be by us to betray us, Matt 10:36.
It is a part of the systematized hierarchy of evil put in place by Satan in order to ensure his successful manipulations.
This scheme of enemy presence where the righteous dwell is masterfully planned to foster a seamlessly, craftily, and deceitfully executed plan by Satan.
lf not for the defeat to Ai and Joshua spontaneous response in prayer, one may want to assume Achan's theft may not have been detected. God, however, made Achan's covetousness a national issue.
For someone to be with us is good, and it is the highest level of love and affection anyone would want for companionship.
We only need to be more prayerful asking for God's wisdom, insightful revelation, and protection.
An enemy in our household has, however, become the most dangerous source of enemy incursion in our lives, if undetected.
God's retribution and Achan's life teach subjects, leaders, to do things in the interest of others and the nation.
Achan's evil not only affected God's cause and word of promise that He would give all the land Joshua set his foot on but would also affect other innocent people's destinies.
Achan, a curse, got his just desserts. He was stoned to death, Joshua 7:25.
There is no peace for the wicked, but call on God now in order to prevent the wicked from destroying you. You need God to go before you in battle.

Achan chose to be a curse standing in the way of Joshua's cause and mission for conquest.

Matthew 10:36 *And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.*

The enemy dwells in close proximity. Let us be careful.
*Prayer.*
Lord, be an adversary to anybody standing in my way of progress in Jesus name. (ref Exd 23:22).
